Barbara Ellman, LCSW

We have seen Barbara at times continuously and at other times intermittently for a brief refresher. She certainly has a cheerful and enthusiastic affect In terms of her skill, however, , I am blown away by her stunningly accurate insights and powerful acumen. She pointed out origins to behaviors and defense mechanism that not only felt dead-on emotionally accurate, but intellectually made complete & utter sense - that neither my wife nor I would have seen in a thousand years.

Barbara is amazing! She listens, comforts, and provides an atmosphere in which to heal and grow. I can not say enough positive about her.

Sessions with Barbara basically consist of her forcing a smile after every comment someone makes and saying "Very good job saying that." Unfortunately she is not actually helpful and pretty much is incompetent at her job. What are we spending all this time and money on exactly? Total waste. Had to go elsewhere to actually get help, and had to undo all the damage her incompetence caused before the new therapist could begin to help. Try somebody else to begin with and avoid being disappointed

Barbara is a great person to talk to. My wife and I benefited a great deal from our time with her and would and have recommend her to anyone looking for someone to help with relationship issues. Her experience was a real value as you could tell she was having us practice things that she's seen work in her past as opposed to trying things she read in a college textbook a few years earlier.

She tried to be helpful. But she appeared to me to be forgetful, and rambling, which made sessions with her feel inefficient. I can think of several occasions when she would say something and the next session forget that she said it. She would also say things at inappropriate times. I think the years have just caught up to her. At one time she probably would have received an excellent rating from me, but I think she needs to call it a career and retire someday soon.
