Fabulous
Empathic and friendly. Took the time and saved my life. I was in a dark place and she helped me so much. She cares like no one else. She’s thorough and personable. Maybe not for guarded people but it worked for me. I couldn’t have done without her. I still see her for “ tune up” sessions.

I saw Anna the past year and there are some good and bad to having her as a therapist. For starters, the bad part was she would talk about her other clients all the time or spend half the session talking about her own life or her family's lives which I do not care for because I'm paying out of pocket for our sessions. One technique she uses is accusing you of certain behaviors which makes you spend like 3 months trying to figure out if she has placed those thoughts in you or if what she said is actually true. She also tries to probe repressive memories and then act like the event hasn't affected me because I do not go into detail. I think maybe if you been to therapy for years and understand how they work with clients she may not be awful but having her as a first therapist was an awful experience and I felt judged for speaking up about my issues. Where is the empathy?

Things started out very well and I was very comfortable with Anna at first; then she started to cross some major lines. She would tell me confidential details about the clients that had therapy right before me. She also dismissed my medically diagnosed sleep disorder, saying I might have Dissociative Identity Disorder instead. I had to remind her that I had had sleep studies and that my partner slept in the same bed with me every night to convince her that I wasn’t wandering away in the night as some other personality. She would also complain about her own problems in great detail and in ways that made me feel pressured to comfort her. She also pushed me to try to remember potentially repressed memories by describing traumatic scenes that she imagined could have taken place. That is extremely irresponsible and can cause a person to create a memory that did NOT happen (I’ve researched this a great deal). Thankfully that was the final straw for me and I stopped therapy shortly after.

In the age of COVID everyone is in survival mode, while therapists/counselors are working tirelessly to help people find peace. That in and of itself deserves SO much recognition. I never had the pleasure to work with Anna, but Anna worked for me! She helped me connect with a local EMDR therapist, when I had no luck for the last 6 months. My healing was important to her ( a total stranger)! Thank you so much Anna!
