Ann Vasey, MED

Ann has helped me through a very difficult ongoing situation, namely the estrangement of one of my adult sons. The way she paraphrases what I say and gets me to clearly see options has led to sounder decision making on my part. Her approach has worked perfectly for me, exactly what I need to progress through ongoing relationship and situational issues.

I connected with Ann right away. She was the first therapist I ever went to so I had different stereotypes in mind. None played out. I found her interactive which I liked. Ann was business-like and professional. She wanted to identify my core issues and drill down on each of them, working through the causes and effects. She wouldn't let me lie to or delude myself about scenarios I talked through. When my issues were worked through, it was easy to know we had concluded and end our sessions. Over several years, I met with Ann 3 periods to address issues I couldn't work through on my own. She worked for me! I highly recommend her.

Ann has been my therapist for several years and has seen me individually and with a partner. She is supportive and challenging in good ways. She helped me through a divorce and was tough on me when I needed it, to call attention to my own bad habits of mind and give me resources to improve. She is also very responsive to me being direct with her about what I need, when I'm struggling and when I want to move on from an issue and work on something new. Because I've been with her a long time and feel comfortable being very honest with her about everything, she is able to give me perspective on my own patterns, cycles, and also knows when she should be gentler and give me some positive encouragement and feedback.

Ann has helped me and my wife through rough patches on a couple of occasions, for several months each occurrence. We've found Ann professional, compassionate, and very helpful at zeroing in on the root of problems, and working through solutions to address those issues. She pushes back when one of us tries to gloss over or explain away something important, which is sometimes uncomfortable but always helpful in the end. She has a small practice in a small office building, which is very non-threatening and private. I'd highly recommend her.

Definitely not for everyone. She seemed to me to be judgemental and even a bit mean. Didn't like to be questioned and didn't always provide accurate information.

Worst experience I have had with any professional. So insensitive and mean.
