Extremely unprofession and uneducated
Telehealth
She'll tell you if Straterra doesn't work for you then you don't have ADHD. That is so far from the case, she has no idea what she's talking about. There is a reason she's an NP and not a doctor. There is also a reason she only does telehealth appointments. Amy McDonell has been fired by numerous healthcare providers for mistreating patients in multiple states. She is condescending, rude, and will treat you like you're subhuman. I honestly can't believe she's still able to give care. Should have had her license revoked a long time ago.

Extremely Rude and Unprofessional!!!
Telehealth
Within seconds I knew this was not going to go well. Amy McDonnell was abrasive, condescending, and unpleasant from the moment our telehealth visit began. She proceeded to speak to me in a hostile tone of voice being extremely unhelpful. I should have started this review by stating that I was reaching out regarding my teenage son who is going through a mental health crisis. To be treated in this manner was beyond upsetting. Even more upsetting is to think that this woman is dealing directly with patients who are victims of trauma or other mental illnesses. I am a 'well' person and she treated me with such disdain, that I was shocked. I had to end the call early as her hostility made me feel very uncomfortable. Again, thank god I am not the patient! Either this person needs a break or, based on the poor reviews here, she should not be practicing - certainly not in the mental health profession. I've encountered far kinder, more patient, empathetic folks working at the DMV.

Compassionate and realistic.
Amy has beyond helped me through a litany of tragedies in the past couple of years. She has looked out for me and helped in ways no other MD, Nurse, or NP has before. I have a precarious situation and illness that I thought no way could be helped. I felt like I was in a box and than one day, boom , Amy and I connect. Since than I have been able yo Because of Amy, manage my everyday life, with work and enjoy my family. Medicine is only a tiny facet of treatment from what I gathered through the years. The real question is , is does the person prescribing the medicine actually care. Because anyone can write a prescription pad. Being under Amy's treatment, the answer to that question is Amy cares indubitably. I don't know where I would be without her. I highly suggest seeing her and open up , be truthful and you will see real results.

Knowledgable and Compassionate
I am a new patient to Amy but I saw how great she was from my first session. She is extremely knowledgable about mental health and the medications that are used to treat them. She handled me with great concern and care. She actually asked me if she could ask me a semi-personal question so that she could treat me accordingly, which was very kind of her and little to no health workers do. Because she is so personable and easy to talk to I felt very comfortable opening up to her. She is ACES in my book!

Ms. McDonnell has absolutely NO business dealing with people in mental health. She was so incredibly rude and accusatory to me on my last visit that I was in tears. She was fired from Stewart Marchman shortly after and when I spoke with her supervisor, he said he had received numerous complaints about her both during her time there and after. No idea why she decided to be an NP and work in mental health when she treats people so awfully. NO compassion–she shouldn't be hired anywhere! Stay away.
