Alas, same old Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde scenario!
Like the other people commenting here who found him initially comforting, so did I. Said something which made me think he really understood my predicament, gave me a psychological test which few of them ever bother doing....I was initially impressed by him. Then after a while 'Mr. Hyde' reared his ugly head and his innate narcissism was revealed, which many therapists seem to possess as a core personality trait in my years of experience dealing with them. There seems to be this pattern that as long as you're appeasing and providing the requisite 'narcissistic supply' to the 'kind, compassionate, sympathetic' persona they're skillfully projecting, you're safe. But let them know you see the thin-skinned narcissist lurking behind that well-crafted façade, and that's when 'Mr. Hyde' emerges. They can and will turn on you quickly and inflict the type of damage that only a wounded narcissist is capable of. This Dr. Stebinger unfortunately fit that familiar pattern all too well. Be wary.

He is always calm and listens , easy to talk to and gives you an outside perspective to situations that you may not know how to handle. He keeps me level headed and grounded. I have been seeing him consistently for over 2 years and he has become my comfort zone. I enjoy seeing because I can tell him everything and I feel comfortable. He is always sensitive to my trauma issues and family problems. And I leave feeling better every time.
