A Wonderful Doctor
I had suspicious growths on both ovaries and a thickening of the wall of my uterus. I am 72 years old, so this was very concerning. I was referred to Dr. Al-Wahab by my GYN. His office got me in within a few days, explained all my options, and scheduled my hysterectomy within a few weeks. Dr. Al-Wahab and everyone I had contact with in his office, treated me with the utmost care and respect, never dismissing my questions or concerns, and there were MANY! My surgery went great, and the recovery was unbelievably easy. The rechecks were with Kristin, and she was wonderful, too. I was able to review very detailed write ups of my office visits and the procedure through my portal. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am that I was able to put myself in Dr. Al-Wahab’s care.

Bad care all around
1. My insurance shows annual exams are free. Instead they charged me for new patient office visit (over $600 was billed to insurance and $100 to me as a patient) 2. Pap exam sample that they did shows unsatisfactory. I called them to see what’s needed and they want me to come back as an office visit charging me again. Plus an additional lab charge. What’s wrong with this picture? 3. The doctor talks over you. Cold and careless. They have a doctors assistant who takes all your information then he comes in. Go somewhere else. The reason why he has high reviews is because Beaumont sends surveys to be completed within 3 days after your visit, so you don’t know what was billed yet or if there are any issues. They act like it’s my problem because I brought up the topic.

Dr. Al-Wahab performed surgery on me twice. Every woman should know that he instructs medical students to violate patients while they are at their most vulnerable. He instructed students to perform unnecessary pelvic exams on me while I was sedated after I explicitly, loudly, repeatedly said no. He deserves negative stars for that. Saving my life gets him stars, but does not absolve him from the physical and mental trauma that resulted from his violating my trust by allowing people to violate me under his watch. Vaginal tearing and a torn perineum are not results of a laparoscopic surgery. If you don't care about five or six people shoving objects in your vagina after you're sedated, he's your guy...otherwise don't make my mistake. Look elsewhere for a physician who will treat you with respect even while you're unconscious

He didn’t listen to me at all. He’s a surgeon and wanted to do surgery only I needed a conversation. He saw me in the hospital and decided what he planned to do without even seeing me. Then because he didn’t listen to me he gave my primary (hospitalist) and oncologist wrong information. He was disruptive to the team. I do not recommend him.
