Dr. Zafir Hawa, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Hawa for over 10 years (a visit every six months), now all of a sudden it is impossible to get an appointment. I try setting one up before leaving the office and the office tells me his calendar isn't open yet. Then I get a text that I can set up an appt and I try, it tells me to call the office. The office says they must have had over 4000 calls to set up appt and they don't have any. I try back a month later and they say he has no appts available but his Sept calendar will open soon. I asked to be put on a list for that and they say they can't. I ask to have an appt with another cardiologist on the team and they say there are none available (how is there no doctors available for appointments)? If he wants to see me every six months how am I supposed to do this? This has gotten beyond ridiculous. Other than that Dr. Hawa is a good doctor.

Dr. Hawa has been my husband's cardiologist for almost 20 years. He has been accurate with his diagnosis and care. My husband had eight stents and a heart valve replacement (TAVR) done by Dr. Hawa. His care was excellent. He takes time to explain and listen to concerns. His office staff is about as good as they come. They are very caring and go out of their way to make sure everything is understood. I highly recommend him.

My 21 year old daughter saw Dr. Hawa for chronic fainting and dizziness. He prescribed medication that only worker temporarily. From there he would only refer us to Mayo Clinic. No additional tests, even though we asked for it, he refused and only told us to go to Mayo because his office couldn't handle it. We ended up seeking an additional opinion through another practice and they were wonderful. Performed the test that we had asked for and received an appropriate diagnosis. She had surgery within 2 weeks and is now recovering nicely and will be able to lead a normal life again. Wish it was Dr. Hawa that could have done that for us.
