A great doctor
Dr Schieffer has been my doctor during my pregnancy and I highly recommend her. Unfortunately I no longer live in Austin, and have a different Ob Gyn now. She was recommended to me by a family member, and has always proven knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Her nurse Crystal was also exceptional, and the front desk staff are also pleasant and helpful. On the downside, I have noticed as increase in appointment wait times during those 9 months and beyond. When I first started going, the wait was less than 15 minutes and then it would sometimes be 45 minutes (or more). This was most likely due to the doctor's popularity , as various staff at the adjacent hospital have nothing but praises for her. Anyway, thought I would give my two cents to offset those undeserved negative reviews. Keep up the good work!

Probably the worst OBGYN i've ever interacted with. During the 45min I had the rod inside of me, they didn't say a word to me about what was going on. They took me back to the exam room where I waited another 45min without a word. She told me they found 32 cysts total on my ovaries. I asked how this happened and she said that she didn't know, sometimes birth control. I asked how we treat this and she said birth control. I said "Birth control probably caused this, and I'm supposed to use birth control to treat it?" She said that was the only treatment option. I told her I didn't want to be on birth control and she essentially shamed me about being unsafe with sex. This was a traumatizing experience for me. Ill never forget my anxiety swelling up while they examined me and being repeatedly ignored when I asked what was wrong. Then, having BC pushed onto me over and over (especially after being told that my new dx of PCOS could be from birth control itself) was really unprofessional.

I have been going to Dr. Schieffer for 22 years. She was a classmate of my previous OBGYN, who whole-heartedly recommended her. Dr. Schieffer delivered both my kids by C-section, one emergency, and one scheduled. She talked to me the whole time during both C-sections and told me what was going on as she did it. She is not super touchy feely and has a very dry sense of humor but she knows what she's doing. If you need someone to hold your hand, bring your husband/ baby daddy because she's not going to do it. But she will explain everything and answer your questions. I recommend Dr. Schieffer without reservations.

She can be nice and know what she is doing, but not into details. She is always in a rush, nurses never call back or follow up. Prices are above average.

I saw Dr. G-S as a new patient early in 2017. She barely stopped talking about politics & TEXTING HER BROTHER to speak to me. I called the clinic after to find out if I'd gotten a pap smear. We briefly spoke about scheduling a laparoscopic procedure, but I didn't get my questions fully answered. I scheduled a 2nd appointment to ask details about the surgery. She was 45 minutes late. No one in the office let me know. I missed another appointment due to it & she just said "I'm busy" in response.

I went to her for my yearly exams. I asked a question about pain and she changed the codes on everything so that my insurance doesn't pay for my yearly mammogram or anything. She should TELL ME before she goes and changes my codes and leaves me with hundreds in medical bills for asking a question! Maybe I just want her to ignore the $300 question. She can't understand my problem. Maybe a few hundred dollars is not a big enough deal for her to wonder why I care at all! We can't all be Drs.
