It is with a heavy heart that I am leaving Shoreline Nephrology with Dr Knudson, and finding a nicer and more respectful nephrologist. I have never felt so humiliated and belittled than when I see her for follow up visits. She is very abrupt and interrupted me many times during our encounter. I agree with several other patients who feel she is more rude and angry during the last 2 years. I want to feel happy from my physicians, and she just makes me sad.

I have been seeing Dr Knudson for several years, and although she began as a doctor that cared about my heath and kidney disease, I have noticed that she has changed over the last few years and she does not appear to be as knowledgeable as I previously thought. Her recommendations are not current and I feel that she does not take the time to keep up to date with medicine. Although her Japanese accent takes some time to get used to, she gets frustrated and even angry when I don't understand what she is telling me. This is not the way that I want my doctor to treat me or speak to me, and I do not feel she is professional. I have sought a second opinion locally and they have questioned almost all of the recommendations that she has made and state that those were what doctors used to do 10 years ago, but newer and more educated doctors are doing things differently now. I am switching physicians and I feel I will get better care elsewhere in Muskogean.

I’ve been seeing Dr Knudson for about 6 years. I started seeing her when blood tests indicated kidney issues and my PCP referred me. I was already at early stage 3 Glomerulonephritis. She monitored me every 3 months and the moment I met the proper guidelines she recommended kemo treatments that pushed the disease in to remission. During kemo she would call in the evening just to check on me. I’ve never had such a caring and knowledgeable doctor before. She can be a little hard to understand at times but will repeat / write it down if you have trouble understanding. She’s well worth any translation issues you might experience. After 6 years, I do very well understanding her.

Dr. Knudson is Japanese and comes from a very different medical culture than we're used to in the US, so she can sometimes come across as harsh. That said, no one goes to bat for her patients like Dr. Knudson. If one of her patients is not being treated right, she'll demand that it be fixed right now, and she gets it done. Her personality is a little weird, but she genuinely cares about every single one of her patients and she'd do absolutely anything for them. I trust her 100%.
