Dr. Sangwan is an EXCELLENT surgeon.
Being in healthcare, it is very hard to be a patient. As an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) and Professor of Nursing, any knowledge becomes fear because you 'know too much' about your condition. From the time I woke up in Critical Care after emergency surgery until my final release of care, I felt confident in Dr. Sangwan and his plan of care for me. His years of practice along with best practice directed my care that lead to the best outcomes. At each visit, either at the bedside or in his office, he was empathetic and professional. I trust his skills as a surgeon and knowledge of colorectal surgery. Although I would hope to not need surgery again, if needed I would have faith in him to take care of me or my family. I trust his judgement and experience to implement the best plan of care based on evidence-based practices.

Still puzzled what he DID to me
Dr. Sangwan performed an inguinal hernia operation on me one week ago. In all the pre-op, he said this was 'minor' surgery and I would be able to swim in a week once the bandages were removed. I have not even been able to sleep in a bed for the past week because of acute pain - like a knife slicing through my abdominal muscles. Did he actually sever the muscles? I cannot lie on my back or lift my legs, one week later. Oh, and his office has still not called me, one week later, to schedule a time to remove the surgical dressing. I guess he's waiting for it to fall off by itself. Words fail me at how awful he has been.

She is our Miracle
Our mother was hospitalized at Nassau Baptist on February 14,2024 with a fib and difficulty breathing. Over the next few days the doctors found that her gallbladder was the reason. Dr. Sangwan came in and it was decided that the gallbladder needed to be removed. That evening, our mom went into septic shock. We thought we were going to lose her. Dr. Sangwan came in and said that they needed to do a very high risk surgery. I asked how high risk? He was so caring and concerned for her. He said 5 percent chance of survival. What were our options? Surgery or she dies from the sepsis. Dr. Sangwan saved our mom. The look on his face when he came out of surgery was a look of relief, but she was not out of the clear. She was in the hospital for 29 days! She saw Dr. Sangwan for her follow up appointment today. She was so happy to him, but in turn, he was just as happy to see her. She is our Miracle, and Dr. Sangwan saved her life. I would refer him time and time again.

Dishonest
They will claim your insurance has been filed with after emergency surgery. They will then collect your “balance” from emergency surgery before they’ll remove your staples. Then you’ll find out they lied. Ambushes patients. Overall, the professionalism of this place is a joke. So when you have to file your claim yourself to get reimbursed- they try and charge 75.00 to sign a form for the claim. Overall, bad experience!! What if I didn’t have the 800.00 they claimed was due? They’d of left the staples for me to deal with.

I saw Dr. Sangwan with a small bowel obstruction and ended up having 3 surgeries within a few days of each other. First off, he is incredibly compassionate and very professional. He came by my room the entire time I was hospitalized. He answered all my calls, even in the middle of the night. Because of Covid restrictions, and my spouse not being able to be at the hospital, Dr Sangwan spoke to my husband numerous times on the phone to keep him informed and calm during this most trying time. Lastly, I feel blessed to have found someone that listens and shows genuine concern for his patients.

My husband went into Baptist Hospital ER inFernandina Beach with extreme abdominal pain. at 7pm. We were met by the ER doctor who ordered a CT Scan and the results were an intestine rupture and leakage into the abdomen cavity. She immediately called Dr. Sangwan the surgeon on call. He came to the hospital and rounded up his team to move quickly and help my husband. The surgery began just after midnight. Dr. Sangwan personally called me after surgery and assured me my husband would be okay. He had hoped to avoid a colostomy bag, however the situation of my husband’s severe damage the bag was a necessity. He assured me my husband was in recovery still on oxygen and resting. He would be moved to ICU in the morning. Dr. Sangwan saved my husband’s life and we will be forever grateful. This is a compassionate and very caring Dr. He is always available to call and was a warm welcome visitor each day my husband remained in the hospital. We are so happy Dr. Sangwan was on call!

My husband & I were in town for his 48th birthday when we woke up at 3am and he had excruciating pain in is stomach. I immediately drove him to the ER - Baptist- not knowing anything about the hospital. My husband was admitted that night & Dr. Sangwan soon conducted a 5-6 hour surgery removing an obstructed bowel and untangling 25 feet of his small intestine that was wound up like a cocoon! Dr Sangwan came out of surgery and looked at me with tears in my eyes wondering if my husband survived. The doctor was said, "oh yes of course" and gently touched my hand which was so needed. 11 days in the hospital and a 3 hour drive back home...then a massive hurricane....then back to the doctor to get 25 staples removed. The drive was well worth it because he is not only a doctor, but someone that truly cares about his patients. He even returned my phone call in the middle of a hurricane evacuation!! 5 STARS!!!!!

Dr Sangwan was instrumental in my recovery from surgery which he performed very exceptionally. I haven't felt this well in several months and it is all due to Dr Sangwan's expertise. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering surgery.

I found out that I had colon/rectal cancer stage 3.  The operations were successful without blood. Other surgeons refused to take me as a patient.  Dr. Sangwan explained to me and my family the severity of the procedure ahead.  Successfully, I am 16 years cancer free! I highly recommend Dr. Sangwan.  Dr. Sangwan treats me with dignity, pride, and I am forever grateful. He and his office runs like a well oiled machine. I wish I could tell the world.
