Rude and rushed
Stay away if you have PTSD, SA trauma, or pelvic pain! From the moment she stepped in she felt rushed. She asked about my symptoms and mentioned she never once looked at my file or paperwork, so I had to try and give my complicated history from memory. I explained my symptoms, history and my SA history, and said that the exam needs to be gentle and to tell me what she’s doing before she does it so I can be prepared. She goes on to disregard that request and quickly insert her finger and press around very fast with no telling what she was doing. Just saying “pain here? Presses a spot, pain here?”. I said yes to most of them. After all of that, she goes on to say the pain is all in my head, and to just try and “stop thinking about it”, as if I hadn’t tried that before. That “you shouldn’t feel pain there”. Yes I’m aware, that’s why I came to the doctor. The appointment lasted about 7 minutes total. I left feeling embarrassed, traumatized, and still in pain.

Great experience
Dr. Barbalat manages my enlarged prostate. She takes her time to explain everything really well, even drew pictures for me to show what’s going on. I have been seeing her for 5 years and even followed her from her previous practice to where she is now. It takes me 45 min to drive to see her but it’s worth it.

Initially fine, but then wasted my time
I saw Dr. Barbalat after having a kidney stone. I was satisfied with my initial visit, though she only spent about 2-3 minutes with me. It's the follow-up visit that annoyed me. A year later she had me drive to her office apparently just so she could ask me if I'd had any more issues. I could have answered that via mail or phone - no. She spent 90 seconds tops with me and then billed my insurance over $300. I won't be going back.

Very Caring Doctor
I’ve seen Dr. Barbalat about three times. She’s very professional very skilled and delightful. I feel that her skills just come out in front of her and there’s no question that if I needed surgery she would be the one to do it.I will add that she’s not aggressive about surgical procedures, unless absolutely necessary.I have total confidence with this doctor so if I need surgery, she will be doing the surgery.

I had a phone appointment with Dr. Barbalat during the COVID crisis for a UTI with possible complications. She listened patiently to my history, and quickly assessed the situation. She then explained the short-term plan to deal with the infection, and the long-term plan to rule out any possible issues. Dr. Barbalat was very efficient and took the time to talk with me on a very personal level. I feel confident that she will treat my condition with expertise and a fair dose of compassion.

I had an appointment yesterday w/Dr. Barbalat (5/20) at 11:15. I arrived a few minutes early and asked if she was running on time. I was told by the receptionist that she thought so but she would check and that was the last I heard from her. At 11:45 I asked her again how long it would be and she told me she would check. About 5 or 10 minutes later a nurse (I assumed she was a nurse) called me in and when I asked her how long I would have to wait she told me that there were 2 people ahead of me so I figured that would be at least another 1/2 hour to an hour. I have a bad back and cannot sit that long. I told the nurse that I would have to cancel and she didn't seem the least bit concerned and just said ok. I have been going to that practice for years and have never been treated so rudely or got the impression that they didn't give a damn if I stayed or not. I have ever had to wait any length of time before so do I need to find another dr's office?
