Patient of Dr Smith
I have consulted Dr. Smith over the past couple of years for pain in my right arm and hand. He helped successfully relieve pain by performing carpel tunnel surgery .I have recently completed follow up visits and he has given me sound advise regarding dealing with separate pain in both hands resulting from osteoarthritis . I always found his staff most professional and helpful..

I went to Dr Smith for pain in my thumb and wrist. Upon examination Dr Smith diagnosed arthritis. He administered cortisone shots and recommended medication. Dr Smith was very friendly and fully explained his diagnosis and course of treatment. He took the time to answer all my questions.

Rushed, Pompous, and Ineffective Provider
After PT failed to resolve my knee pain, I was referred to Dr. Smith. An MRI revealed a macerated medial meniscus, edema of the lower femur, and a Baker Cyst. I was and am in constant pain, and my work as a carpenter had and is become an ordeal. Hiking, my passion, was no longer possible.Dr. Smith strongly recommended an arthroscopic cleaning as a 1st step. I was too young at 58, his words, for other options and no other option was discussed. What did I know, a carpenter? I trusted him, a terrible mistake. Six months later I am worse than ever. There was no meniscus to harvest for future transplant as he wrote.Dr. Smith is better suited for creative writing than surgery. His notes claim that he and I went through an algorithm like decision process to arrive at his recommended treatment. Baloney. He strongly urged one and only one treatment, and I was ignorant and trusted him. Time and money wasted on a failed and inappropriate method. Over to UVM to see a real MD.

Carpal tunnel
Dr Smith was congenial and the exam was complete. He had me get an X-ray. Then he gave me an injection into my wrist. The numbness and tingling has lessened over several weeks.

I just had shoulder surgery by Dr. Smith and I am extremely impressed. I had severe shoulder pain because of a torn biceps tendon, and other frayed tissue throughout my rotator cuff. I am 3 weeks out of surgery and am very happy with my healing. I am gaining movement daily and I can now sleep through the night without pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Bill Smith as a surgeon.

Dr Smith is very cold and thinks he knows it all...he doesn’t ! Went toHim for my shoulder rotator cuff and did not explain the X-ray in depth.. gave me cortisone shot and sent me in my way.. made an appt with dr Goldstock which I should have done in the first... looked at same x ray and immediately had me go for MRI.. Dr Smith did not do this .. waiting for results may need surgery...use Dr Goldstock in same group!!!!

Head to a major medical center unless you want to risk a major medical problem. Ego is huge. Doesn't have the knowledge base to fix problems that may arise due to mistakes. Takes the expedient route and moves on, leaving patient worse off.
