I'm so fortunate to have him as my physician
He has been my physician for my MS, he is the only one that I trust, not only is he the best of the best, I also feel that he is a friend, that adds to my comfort of knowing that he has my best interest at heart, my MS treatment is critical to my life, that's why I only trust him, I'm so excited to be able to get back with him, in his new office.

Dr Shaffer
He is one of the best and most capable physicians I have ever met. And I am a fussy RN. I am devastated that he has left his practice. I hope he is well. I would love to find him so that I might send him a note and wish him well. My complex migraines will never be cared for as well.Adair Fingerhut RN, BA

Understanding
Dr Shaffer is very thorough. He understands MS from a personal level and is extremely helpful with managing the symptoms. I highly recommend him. I have had several neurologists dismiss me, because I am “too old”. He has made a significant difference in my quality of life.

My appointment with Dr. Shaffer went well, but overall I am very dissatisfied with the care I've received from him. I went to him with a diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia. He changed up my medication, neglecting to tell me it was a controlled substance or ask about my family history of addiction. I got an MRI per his request and the radiologist notes said unremarkable, then Dr. Shaffer's notes said it was unremarkable. Upon getting a second opinion, a neuro-radiologist found that the MRI showed the #1 cause of trigeminal neuralgia. He comes off great during in initial appointments but seems too busy for his ongoing patients.

Dr Shaffer is passionate about migraines, personable, and the first doctor in my life that was able to figure out my problem and address it with the right medicine first time finding an easy resolution to migraines almost daily. He has a questionnaire that you complete as a first time patient that addresses every problem that could be related to migraines (stomach symptoms, numbness and everything that I suffered with that no doctor ever knew was migraine related until I saw Dr. Shaffer.) I have reached out with questions and prescription requests – he has gotten back to me same day. Best Neurologist ever – if you suffer with migraines he will change your life and is a doctor you can trust.

Dr. Shaffer listens and explains things really well. He took my concerns very seriously and came up with a plan to find answers, something I've been trying to find for years. I wish every doctor was more like him, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone with neurological issues.

We have been seeing Dr. Shaffer for years and he has always been wonderful. He actually takes the time to listen to you and works hard to find the best treatment program for you. His nurse Randy who works with the MS patients is also amazing. He is quick to respond and help find solutions to any problems. Our only complaint with the office is the front desk receptionist's. Every single time you call or have any direct contact with them they are rude, unhelpful, and treat you like you are bothering them. We have always given them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a bad day, or they are busy. But it is to the point of dreading having to call the office because of how rude they treat you. I just think the front face of the office should be a professional, welcoming one.

Dr. Shaffer doesn't just see you he gets to know you he talks to like you are a person and not just another in a list of patients until it is golf time. He is a great person to talk to about your issues and he backs his answers with data and medical opinion not just the flavor of the month medicine. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a Neurologist. He is caring and looking out for you and I respect that he will do everything he can to make you better.Thank You, Dr. Shaffer!

My wife called to make an appointment as a new patient. She has been given a tentative diagnosis of Parkinson Disease and chose to switch Neurologist. Dr Shaffer's website indicates numerous categories of ailments he treats. BUT, the receptionist said he only treats MS and headaches. Change the website to reflect that.

Unbelievable! After my MS diagnosis 8 years and 5 neurologists ago I had become hopeless. My disease was progressing, life as I knew it had virtually stopped. Dr Shaffer is not only brilliant, he really, really knows everything about MS from his research, but more important...he himself has been the guinea pig! Plus has a wonderful way of communicating. No white coat superiority BS!! I am choosing to put my life with MS in his hands!!
