He got ALL of my cancer in a complicated operation. A nurse I met through home health care said that she used to work in the hospital with him and if she ever needed surgery, he was the one she would want to do it. Other nurses said similar things. Additionally, Dr. Polk was very attentive to my needs after the surgery. He is a wonderful physician.

Dr. Polk saved my husband’s life, twice! He has been wonderful to work with each time. He listened to our concerns and answered our 1,000 questions. He is confident in his ability, which we both greatly appreciated. He takes his job seriously, but also seems to realize laughter is the best medicine. That being said, our experience on the two surgery days is all business; focused on what I can only guess is delivering the best outcome for his patients. I am grateful for Dr. Polk and his ENTIRE staff. I hope and pray our family never needs the services of a surgical oncologist again, but if we do, we know where to find the best.

Dr. Polk has been a part of my cancer fighting team for several years now. He has headed up two surgeries during my battle with colon cancer. Both were complicated surgeries and he was outstanding in his performance. His entire team from residents to nurses are confident and work well together. Dr. Polk takes time to fully explain the procedures, show you the imaging of what he wants to do, and is very free with his time to address any questions my family and I had. He is confident in his ability which is a quality I appreciate. I value his recommendations and opinions of options and treatments. He also takes personal pride in his work and wants the patient to recover fully and have the best experience they can have. I highly recommend him. I was told by a close friend who has gone through cancer as well that you mush have a strong team from your oncologist, to PCP, to surgeon, to gastroenterologist. Dr. Polk is a strong member of my team.

Appointments were rushed. No bedside manner. Did not share information my husband needed to make his decision to have surgery. I would never recommend anyone to see Dr. William Polk Jr, Surgical Oncology. One follow up appt and it was rushed. He did not share any details of my husbands surgery when he came out of operating room, I had to dig the information out of him. My biggest concern was my husbands weight loss and when I told Dr. Polk of my concern he cut his eyes at me and told me "he wasn't worried about the weight loss". My husband has now lost 50% of his body weight. But Dr. Polk is not concerned.

Condescending and Angry before surgery when I asked questions. I trusted my PCP who referred me to him. Polk Jr. Performed surgery that was not necessary per pathology report, HORRIBLE traumatizing follow up after surgery, do NOT trust him. Still need another surgery to fix what he did to me. Diagnosis added to my hospital chart that cover him but are NOT TRUE. Please check you hospital diagnosis.
