Dr. William Kunkle, DO

I don’t leave many reviews and lost of them r very positive so others can find a good doctor they can trust. This one unfortunately is someone I’d highly advise to Avoid so u don’t waste your time and money. I was referred to this doctor from another highly respected one. Dr. Kunkle was over an Hour late, never apologized, never looked me in the eyes, ignored everything I said and avoided all my questions. Looking at other reviews he has a history of the exact type of very unprofessional behavior. Withholding pain medicine post surgery from several other reviewers was very disturbing to read. When choosing a surgeon u Always need to have a close relationship with someone u trust post surgery. He has a massive ego and exactly the type of doctor I always avoid.

My experience with Dr Kunkle was in NC. I’m very very happy that I met him. He was the best. I hated to see him go. He’s just an all around nice person. I highly recommend.

I'll start with the entire staff is AMAZING! But first Dr. Kunkle is superior to any spinal surgeon I have ever met and I had been to quite a few consultations over the period of 2 years. I HAD severe spinal stenosis in the lower lumbar, plus herniation at L3. All the other surgeons wanted to rip me apart and do extensive work. I was blessed to find Florida Spine and Dr. Kunkle. From beginning to end it was practically seemless. He is extremely professional, very knoweledgable, great bedside manner, and I could just go on and on. He was able to correct my stenosis and very unstable back with minimal invasion and very little down time. I was up and walking to the restroom that night following surgery. My pain was managed perfectly the entire time. I am on week 3 and can walk about 20-30 mins already. I will be starting Physical Therapy in 3 more weeks right within their facility. Dr. Kunkle will be recommended to anyone I know needing spinal surgery or even any of his other specislties. Thank you for giving me my life back Dr. Kunkle! You are a God-Send!! Jill P.S. His proficiency and knowledge instilled confidence in my husband and me, leading us to proceed with an endoscopic microdiscectomy. The successful outcome allowed me to ambulate on the same day. I battled debilitating sciatica pain for over a year before I met Dr Kunkle to discuss my issues. He was super informative of the procedure the was best for me and made me feel comfortable about making the tough decision of going though with the surgery for which I had tried put off as long as possible. I was getting Married in a month from this meeting and Dr. Kunkle was kind enough to get me in a weeks later. He did a remarkable job fixing my issue and with immediate results. Follow ups have gone very well and I'm hopefully on my way to a full recovery Dr. Kunkles expertise and skill are top notch and with out him I would not have been able to stand at my own wedding. Thanks to you and your staff for everthing. Six stars in my opinion!

Dr. Kunkle was super kind, respectful and supportive. I had 2 herniated discs and the pain would not even allow me to get out of my bed. Before coming to him my pain was unbearable, but now i feel brand new ! His medical expertise is stellar and the operation was done flawlessly! Dr. Kunkle is absolutely amazing, not just as a doctor but as a person, he clearly cared about me and wanted me to get better. Absolutely recommend !

Dr Kunkle was amazing. After 9 weeks of being bedridden and seeing another surgeon my chiropractor called Florida Spin and explained my condition. They called my wife immediately and got me in within a week. Saw Dr MacMahon (pain management) he set up a epidural and brought in Dr Kunkle. Dr Kunkle explained that if epidural doesn’t work he would immediately book me for lamiectomey. Epidural didn’t work and surgery was set up within a week.I am now free of pain and can sit and walk for the first time in 9 weeks. Dr Kunkle basically saved my sanity. He explained the entire procedure and immediately spoke to my wife after surgery.I would totally recommend him So glad he moved to Florida

He gives no pain meds doesn't care

Dr Kunkle was very kind, patient, and easy to talk to. I had 2 neck surgeries (C5-7) and 1 lower back, (L4-5,Spondylosis) this year. My back was extremely painful. Dr. Kunkle explained everything to myself and my husband. He answered all of our questions through the whole process. My arm is healing and my back is doing great. I am walking normal again!! I'm sad he moved to FL.

I had a fusion of the lumbar and woke up with no pain medication, and was sent home with no pain medication. He could care less if you are in pain!

I had back surgery with Dr. Kunkle in April and feel so much better. I had a laminectomy, thankfully he didn’t need to mess with my herniated disc at this point. I was very happy with him before surgery- he took plenty of time to answer my questions and reassured me this is the best option as I was previously recommended to do a fusion. The only issue I had was my post-op pain for the first week; I’m not sure that I had the correct med or dosage from being a pain management patient beforehand. I’m very glad I saw him and sad to see him leave the state!

I would NOT recommend this man to anyone. After my surgery I was in more pain than I was before. I was prescribed gabapentin before my surgery because of nerve pain that I was experiencing. At that time he gave me a script for 3/300mg a day and even told me that if that was not enough to let him know. Ok awesome will do doc. So after my surgery now I am experiencing nerve damage badly in my hands. Called their office and got blown off. My surgery SHOULD NOT have caused that. (But laying on my couch recovering did??) During my 2 wk check-up I told the doc that I had taken an extra gabapentin a day(making it 4 a day) and it was helping with the new pains I was having. He said ok thats fine, but yet never changed my prescription when he refilled it and I also did not catch it. So now that Ive been trying for 5 days to get my script wrote properly that he Ok'd, I get a call saying he wont approve 4 pills a day. HE ALREADY DID. He did not do his job properly on updat

Awful, 6 surgeries, 2 life threatening infections, all blamed on pt. Stated malnutrition takes years to get, years to improve. Not true! Mri after mri. Left state, why?

Check in was fine as was the X-ray people. The wait wasn't long, but meeting him was not pleasant. He told me why I had been having problems with my hips, it's because I have 2 slipped discs on my lower back. O.K. I said, was it caused from one of my (hip) falls, NO! he said it's all from you being a smoker and being overweight! I admitted to him, I know I need to lose weight and I'm trying to quit smoking, then he proceeded to tell me that it's only a 3 day physical addiction, the rest is all mental. WHAT??!! I couldn't believe my ears. I decided right then I was never going back. He's condescending, judgmental and has no compassion at all, at least not for me. Find a new job Doc!

Dr. Kunkle treated me respectfully, and answered all of my questions. He provided a prescription to help my current situation. I am not eager for surgery, having had prior surgery for a previously ruptured disc many years ago. With years of movement with fused vertebrae, I ended up needing a laminectomy (Roto Rooter of the newly formed arthritic growth.) So with experience, I have learned that surgery is not always best. Within 2 days on a corticosteroid, I am able to comfortably walk and am scheduled for an MRI and a follow-up visit with Dr. Kunkle.

Run as fast as you can. For 3 months of agony could not walk, sit stand. Given no meds. Acted as if I was after meds never took any. Told me I had hip bursitis, went to a real dr and had 4 ruptured disc! Was in surgery within 2 days! So, not sure which classes he missed but really? A real winner!
