Dr. William Hernz, MD

Very thorough, kind and patient. Very trustworthy.

'In my experience, Dr. Hernz now prioritizes profit over patient care. Initially, it seemed like he genuinely cared about his patients, but that sentiment has shifted. Instead, his focus is on his financial gain. I have never seen him make an effort to do any psychological testing or inquire about physical health. He does not seem to care. At the end of a session, I watched him holding his breath until I wrote a check, and then he very visibly breathed a sigh of relief. I found this strange and unprofessional as I have always paid his bills in a timely manner. It was always out of pocket as he does not take insurance. I have an anxiety disorder and I have always required more than one prescription to stay well. However he will not write his previous prescriptions and limits it to one only, not for any valid medical reason but to keep his door revolving and collect his fees. There is no excuse for unprofessional and unacceptable care. I cannot recommend him in any way.

I’ve never had a Doctor Who I’ve never met that canceled my appointment for not giving reason. Not only did his secretary text me, but she gave no reason. This is very disappointing and I would not waste your time with this doctor.

Dr. Hernz is typically great on a call and empathetic. However sometimes he just disappears. His notes are only available hand-written and are completely illegible, he refuses to have them transcribed. He also doesn't have any interface or portal that things can be reached. So when something comes up it can take weeks to get a response. The most recent incident that led to me firing him was nearly 2 months of voicemails and emails before I finally got a response saying he would call, after another month of follow ups with no response I had no choice but to move on. I would not recommend him for anyone who needs more than an annual appointment. I would not recommend him to anyone who needs any level of communication. He is knowledgeable but that information is wasted with his inability to reliably communicate it.

Dr.Hernz is extremely compassionate and helps you look on the bright side of things! Receptionist is sweet and WILL call with openings, Don’t give up when it comes to the waiting list!

Dr Hernz seemed like a fine doctor, trying to deal with his receptionist is a different story. Never once was the phone answered when I called and only after multiple messages were left would I get a response days later. This lead to delays in refilling prescriptions and patient care.

Excellent ! Dr. Hernz is a brilliant and compassionate human being. He is professional and warm. He has changed the quality of our lives!

Best psychiatrist I have ever had. Extremely smart, trustworthy. Cares. May take a while to get back to you, but he always does. I will never see another dr besides dr Hernz

Things started out great with Dr. Hernz- he is very knowledgeable and seemed compassionate. The office staff was very kind as well and scheduling was fine. My opinion changed after not hearing back from him for a month. I tried emailing him with a question and leaving a voicemail and heard nothing. We had communicated through email several times before and knew it sometimes could take a few days but was surprised when i never heard back after multiple attempts. Very unprofessional.

I have been seeing Dr. Hernz since 2011 and he has been amazing the entire time. The medications has given me have made my overall quality of life. If a medication didn't help, he took me off it. He is very trustworthy, seemed to know what conditions I had before I even tested for them, and is very knowledgeable overall. I haven't ever had a bad experience with him and I enjoy going to appointments as opposed to dreading them like I have with others. He is very understanding. I highly recommend!

Dr Hernz has been my doc since july 2015. He was very thorough and kind during my evaluation w him. I was struggling w mdd, ocd, sad,and ptsd. He put me on a medication called Luvox that has been very beneficial in my treatment. Before going to him I was struggling w crying spells daily and now I can go days without crying. I think he is an amazing person and am grateful to be his client!
