I recently had a very unpleasant experience with Dr. Smith. From the moment our appointment started, it was clear that he wasn't interested in having a meaningful conversation about my health. Instead, he seemed focused on rushing through the consultation to get to the next patient. Having seen endocrinology specialists around the country for the past 15 years, I've always had positive interactions — until this appointment. Dr. Smith was curt and did not take the time to explain his methods or align his approach with what multiple other specialists have recommended. He didn't even sit down to talk through his decisions, choosing instead to stand the entire time. His staff shared his dismissive attitude, frequently interrupting and speaking curtly. They pushed a predetermined agenda that did not prioritize my specific needs. Fortunately, there are many endocrinologists here in Lexington, and I made sure to get a referral to a new one as soon as I left UK. I would not recommend Dr. Smith to anyone seeking compassionate, patient-centered care.

Dr. Jackson Smith has been my daughter's physician since she was nearly a day old. We are now at 22 1/2 years. He has always been very compassionate, takes time with us during her appointments, he calls us himself with any issues based on her labs & medication dosing, and he calls her "one of his kids". He literally has been entrusted with my daughter's life which he has done an excellent job balancing her growth related to medication dosing, and unwanted side effects. We see him 3 times a year now after navigating through her physical growth into an adult. He has always kept up with her school performance, extracurricular activities and life events. I have told him that he is not allowed to retire!
