Warning: Do Not See This Dr.
After my insurance changed last year I needed to find a new PCP that is in-network. A friend was seeing Dr Dinges, so I made an appointment with him. That was the wrong thing to do. I believe Dr Dinges is very bright, but his lack of communication is unbelievable. There is an office assistant that tries to field his portal notes, but not once has he ever replied himself. He has made so many prescription errors that I can’t count them all, including changing the dosage of one Rx without telling me at the time of renewal; “forgetting” to send in other Rx’s; sending in only one refill when sending a Rx that was meant to have 2, then ignoring my note questioning his thought process. Every visit has had a ridiculous story accompanying it. I will not see this Dr again, nor can I recommend him to anyone.

Their “Process” Over Patient Care
I was looking for a new ID doctor for myself and partner. We live outside the city so Seattle docs are a hassle but worth it (imo). I was excited about Dr Dinges even though I giggled about the name but BOY is dinges an accurate moniker. The office is so idiosyncratic - even getting prescriptions filled for meds I’ve been on for decades - they wouldn’t entertain that unless I came in for an appointment. No telehealth for prescribing either! Mind you, this is not the first time I’ve seen this practice. My partner had to reschedule two appointments because of work commitments and extraordinary traffic snarls. Well - if you need to reschedule 2x they will not longer see you… it was upsetting because he needed medication and with limited ID docs in town, they clearly care about billing more than understand their patient’s situations. So, the point of seeing this person was standardizing care but instead it’s just been a hassle. Don’t waste your time or money.

Non responsive
They have a portal that is available but dont respond. Even with a follow up phone call. Was told i would hear back and did not.. 5.5 hours from message being left. now my weekend is spent in pain and discomfort as my questions and concerns were obviously not important.

Does not call back or respond to messages on porta
Unfortunately, my experience has been pathetic. I would not recommend him to my enemy. I never received the promised call with the results, even after four months. I understand delays can occur, but I'm quite concerned about the lack of communication. Despite reaching out through the portal and leaving voice mails, I haven't received any updates or communication regarding the next steps. This is particularly frustrating considering the additional expense incurred for the uninsured tests he recommended. I would appreciate it if he had the courtesy to return my calls or even have his admin return my calls. Also, provide any necessary follow-up recommendations for the problems identified. Am I asking for too much? Any other provider has been more responsive.

Highly Recommend!
I've been going to Dr. Dinges for about six months now, after a friend highly recommended him and I'm beyond impressed! My first appointment I was provided plenty of time to go over my health history and address any concerns without feeling rushed. When I got COVID-19, they had me come in immediately to get the Plaxovid medication. I was able to get a Monkeypox vaccination very early when others were finding it difficult to obtain. I also got pink eye and they had me come in immediately for diagnosis and treatment. I feel as if the entire staff cares about my well-being and I'm so happy to have found this place.

Great Doctor Terrible Front Desk
Dr. Dinges is great. Thoughtful, inquisitive, up to date, willing to both listen and offer choices. Unfortunately his gatekeeper on the front desk, Dwayne, is pretty awful. No doubt he has a tough job fielding calls and portal messages as well as handling the admin stuff for the office, but the attitude he gives out is unacceptable, and together with the lack of follow up, the dropped requests for prescription refills, the short and insufficient answers to questions like “is your office offering monkeypox vaccinations”, etc. makes it pretty difficult to recommend this doctor. It should not be a struggle and a stress inducing experience every time you need to interact with your physician. A good doctor but with a dysfunctional office.

Dysfunctional office experience
I visited this doctor once, with a follow-up for testing the next day, for what appears to be some sort of neurological problem. The doctor appeared bright and on-the-ball. The office’s vibe is pleasant and chill. But within 2 weeks, I reverted back to my former practitioner out of necessity. This doctor may be exceptionally strong — I’m not qualified to judge. But the consistent and concerning breakdowns in office/patient communication materially hindered my ability to get the care I needed. Promised follow-up communication never took place. The front desk worker (who was the primary, if not sole, conduit for communicating with the doctor) more commonly posed a barrier towards my getting the basic information I’m used to receiving from physicians for 30 years now. Although I’ve rarely felt any frustration with my prior physicians’ practices, it was hard not to feel both angry and drained upon each interaction with this office. Overall, I cannot recommend.

Very Smart Doctor
Dr D has been my PCP for several years. He’s very knowledgeable, easy to get in to see in a pinch either in person or virtual, and there’s free snacks in the waiting room.

Have been going to Dr. Dinges for years. He is extremely knowledgeable and a little boring; exactly what you want in a good doctor! When I first started seeing him I thought he was a bit judgemental of some of my life choices, but honestly if your doctor isn't concerned with the harm you might be doing to yourself, you should get a better doctor. Dr. Dinges may not remember everything about you, but when you see him with an issue he really tries to get to the root of the problem, not just diagnosing the cause and treating the symptoms. If you want a doctor that will write you any scripts you want or won't ask any meaningful questions or if you want a clinic too chaotic to even notice you were ever there then Dr. Dinges is definitely NOT for you. But if you live in Seattle and care about your health or need an expert in Infectious Diseases you literally can't find a better doctor.

Dr. Dinges has been a lifesaver for me. I have a complex medical history and Dr. Dinges is among the few who are willing and knowledgeable enough to investigate and find answers. I also value his willingness to say he doesn't know if there is little or no research in a certain area. Dr. Dinges and his staff have the best interpersonal skills of any office I've been in (and all my doctors at this point are good at this). I highly value Dr. Dinges and can't imagine where I'd be without him.
