Called to serve
Telehealth
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Walter Tan for the advise he gave us when my husband was first diagnosed with 3 vessel disease and needed to undergo CABG. I know that he is a very busy person but he took the time to answer all our questions. He took away most of our fears and uncertainties and the weeks prior to my husband's surgery became more bearable. I pray to God to bless this man as he performs his duties to serve and to save lives. More power to you Dr. Tan. Your advise meant a lot to us as the emotional aspect carries same weight as the physical illness.

Best Cardiologist in NC
We found Dr. Tan, after my mom’s mild stroke. He took the time to (fully) understand my mom’s condition. He didn’t talk over us. He didn’t talk just to her, or to me (her son). Her heart condition and blood pressure were all over the place. We felt like we were on a roller coaster. His expertise and medical intervention has made her balanced and healthier, and, to top it off - he made certain that we understood everything. I can’t thank him enough.

Great Doctor!
Dr Tan is one of the best doctors I have every been seen by. He took time to get to know me. I felt like I mattered to him and was not just another patient. He took the time to ensure that both my wife and myself were educated on exactly what the issue was and the next steps to take. He further called me personally to discuss test results. I wish we had more doctors like him.

Best Cardiologist ever!!!!
Dr. Tan is interested in me as the individual patient and not just another "chart". He gets personal in the aspect of getting to know what makes me me, my habits, what's important to me, my family, and my lifestyle. He is extremely caring and shows compassion for his patients. He acknowledges my concerns and addresses each one. He spent time with me to make sure I was empowered and educated with what was going on with my heart and overall health. That way I can be comfortable with my care and the medications I'm using. He is truly fulfilling his purpose in the medical field and as a human being. Not to mention his personality and sense of humor! He is one of a kind and anyone who gets him as their cardiologist is blessed!

Dr. Tan is a wonderfully caring, kind doctor. I was a college FB coach for 39 yrs. Dr. Tan reminds me of Coach K @ Duke-smart, skillful, & no BS. After my procedure he called & spent over 30 min. on the phone explaining (motivating) me as to exactly what I needed to do(when the phone call dropped-he called back). I have tremendous respect & appreciation for his skill and his motivation. Great doctor-great human-being.

Wants the Best for Me
Dr. Tan has been my doctor since my initial heart attack in 2017. He listens to my concerns, wants the best for me, and values me as a person. In a world where most doctors don't response to emails or calls, he is the exception. If I send an email, the next day he calls me and we sort our my concerns. I recommend him highly.

Dr.Tan is an incredibly good person and a remarkable Cardiologist. I am 70 years old and had emergency heart bypass surgery at age 39 and 59. I have never been treated by a better doctor that Dr. Tan. He makes time to truly learn about you and what make you/your heart tick and becomes your partner in treating you optimally. He does everything possible to keep you as healthy as possible. I hope you have the good fortune to be treated by Dr. Tan. Your heart and soul will be so much better!

Very professional Doctor that takes his time with his patients to not only get to know them but to discuss treatment options as well as answer my questions. His type of care and treatment has become a lost art. Unlike Dr. Tan, most Doctors are interested in the quantity of patients they see instead of providing quality care. Dr. Tan is about giving excellent quality care and listens to his patient.

It is with great pleasure that I submit this review for Dr. Walter Tan. My journey with Dr. Tan has been amazing and productive, restoring my health to a vigorous, able-bodied state. The whole body approach was taken to embrace all issues with the heart as the focus. Dr. Tan suggested that I try Intermittent Fasting as a way to reduce cholesterol, improve heart function, and normalize organ systems. I started this process which is backed by research and proven to be effective. I have lost weight, increased endurance levels, lowered cholesterol levels and feel healthy and energetic. With Intermittent Fasting, daily exercise, and a healthy diet, my heart is happy. Dr. Tan said, "You are aging, but your body is getting younger". My husband has seen results also, and we plan to remain active by dancing, tutoring, socializing with friends, and enjoying our family. Through Dr. Tan's guidance, health goals have been accomplished and maintained.

Dr. Tan has been treating my father for several years now. He takes time to explain everything well and thoroughly. He has called me many times to discuss my father's care so that I know what is going on as well. He is genuinely caring and gets to know his patients and their families. I consider him a friend. If we leave a phone message or one on the portal, he promptly gets back to us via a phone call or two.

Dr Tan was instrumental in helping to resolve my brother’s cardiac issue. He lite a fire under him and got him to realize an interventional procedure would prevent a debilitating second stroke. Thanks to Dr. Tan and to Dr. Balogh for recommending Dr. Tan. We appreciate the teamwork!! Many thanks to both.

He is very in answering all your questions and has a great knowledge of medications and what may work better with your condition. I had felt like I was going to die at any time and he changed my three medicines and it made such a difference. He is very patient and caring and willing to help you to understand your condition. I had other doctors and they had said they had done all they could, and they had missed a lot. I really appreciate him and the time he is willing to spend with helping you.

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting with Dr. Tan for an appointment with my husband. I am a registered nurse therefore it was very important for me to be at this appointment to discuss new diagnosis of CHF. Dr. Tan was extremely pleasant; but more than that he took his time answering all of our questions and concerns. He thoroughly examined my husband and ultimately told us to enjoy being well. He was the most thorough of any physician we have ever seen. I would highly recommend him.
