Dr. Steen is such a world-class doctor, activist and teacher in the scleroderma world, and stellar human being that it's hard to rate her highly enough. I am exceptionally lucky to have her as my doctor. I live in NY and Miami but have struggled all my adult life to find a local rheumatologist or other physician with a true and helpful knowledge of scleroderma. However, The mere mention of Dr. Steen's name inevitably evokes awe and praise from doctors known and unknown.

Although I have a PhD, I don't have adequate words to express my gratitude to Dr. Virginia Steen, who has been my rheumatologist for the last 17 years. Currently I may have developed heart issues, and she has asked me to send her the results of an echocardiogram and blood test and arranged to speak with her so that her opinion can be shared with my PCP & cardiologist, who will be determining my treatment. This initiative demonstrates her above-and-beyond care for me - an, I'm sure for her other patients.
