Dr. Virgil Balint is one of my favorite doctors. Why? He listens to the patient. He has immense knowledge, and uses it effectively to understand the patient and his pain issues. He has amazing skills at using non-surgical and non-invasive treatments to zero-in on the sources of pain and treat it effectively. Dr. Balint has given me a better, pain-free life so that I can enjoy doing the things I love - playing golf, walking, traveling and staying on my feet for hours to cook my daughter's favorite dishes.

I went to Dr. Balint with painful lower back issues. He gave me relief for over a year. Definitely worth the discomfort to provide relief.

Dr.Balint is one of the best doctors I have even seen. After 6 years of seeing him. He is always going above and beyond to make sure to address all my issues and help anyway he can in my pain. I definitely recommend going to see him. He is the only one I trust putting needles in my spine. Anytime I have an issue he always makes time to see me or calls me back to address my concerns.

Dr. Baling and the staff were very helpful. They looked at the MRI and recommended some specific treatment. I was given two injections that really helped address the pain I had been experiencing.

In treating sural nerve pain following ankle tendon surgery he injected the space between my lumbar spine with enough steroids so couldn’t feel my entire left leg , left foot, buttocks and bladder for over 1.5 hours. PAINFUL injections - I screamed. I’ve had injections in my lumbar spine and facet joints in the past and have never experienced this intense pain. Thanks to him I now have severe weakness / Sciatica pain on my left side. He created more problems. Can NOT recommend him.

Highly recommended. The most professional, thoughtful, competent & communicative doctors I had seen in 20-years. I have been under his care for several back problems requiring epidurals & associated treatments. He speaks in a clear & honest manner about everything he will do during the procedures & really helped me through my fears & anxiety in a thoughtful & caring manner. His nurse Debra demonstrate the kind of compassion & empathy to me that I would expect from a family member.

“Dr. Balint of National Spine and Pain is an expert in his field and exceptional in every way! He is extremely thorough, very professional, and very experienced with every procedure that he administers at NSP! He knows instantaneously the clinical course of treatment to follow with any given medical condition. He is methodical and erudite. I have continuous, total confidence in him, and I appreciate how he has improved my quality of life dramatically. The staff at his office are great, too!

I came to the Spine and Pain Center with a lot of pain and weakness in both legs with pins and needle feeling. Dr. Balint gave me 3 injections and a huge amount of opioids. After 4 months of taking all of these, he got me hooked on this and then indicated he did not want to see me any longer. He did not even try to get me off of the opioid withdrawal with smaller doses of pain medicine or with Zubsolv or Suboxone. I had 10 days of the worst pain I believe a person could ever have.

Dr. Balint & Deb Nelson have cared for me since August 2012. I have moved to Colorado and terrified of seeing a new doctor. I have so much respect for both Dr. Balint and Deb, his trustworthy PA, and it's difficult to my care over to a new doctor, especially one who is 20 years+ younger and less experienced. But, one horrific injection that I desperately need, it's truly a "one shot" deal for the new doc and if it doesn't work, I'll return to VA or pay out of pocket for his CO recommendation.

I'm a current patient of Dr. Balint. I have been seeing him for 4-5 years now with a chronic back issue (L4-L5). I travel from another state to see him because he's the only one I will trust giving epidural injections, he's that meticulous. I love his nurse, Victoria, and the Billing people are always helpful and efficient. I've been able to avoid risky back Fusion surgery by seeing him, and I'm also able to remain active. You want to avoid surgery? This man works wonders.

3 minutes of the 2.5 hours I spent at his office were spent with Virgil. 2 of those 3 minutes were spent asking the same questions his assistant had just asked, also answered in my pre-appt forms. The final minute was spent by him demonstrating that he wasn't listening & the only options he offered were in-house procedures. I spent more time interacting with his billing staff than with him and his assistant combined. Highly recommended you go elsewhere.

I found the staff (nurses) totally inconsiderate. Dr. Balint didn't treat me like a patient. Did not ask any follow up questions. During injection and after injection I was extremely in pain and could not stop my tears; not even once Dr. Balint or his nurse asked me if I was ok. Instead they had personal conversation while I was receiving injection. Sadly I must say this was my second visit and totally different than my first experience. I will never return to that office.
