Patronizing Doctor
Dr. Szymkowiak asked good questions, but the hands-on assessment was incomplete. When I received my appointment summary, I noticed she had added a diagnosis I never had before—without any testing or completion of a relevant questionnaire. She also diagnosed me with another condition based solely on her interpretation of my responses, without conducting any tests or considering a differential diagnosis. Additionally, she pushes for services earlier than age-appropriate. She also scheduled a repeat test that I have to pay for since it is no longer considered preventive care and an additional test that is very costly. I learned about being scheduled when the department called me to confirm the appointment the doctor scheduled for me without even telling me. Despite my repeated inquiries, the only response from the nurse was that the doctor wanted to speak with me, which requires a co-pay. This doctor seems more focused on billing than patient care. I absolutely do not recommend her.

I would only recommend Dr. Szymkowiak to patients who want a physician to provide all of the information . She is very cable of explaining things to a patient in easy to understand words. What I found she was lacking, as was important to me, was the ability engage in dialogue w/ a patient and to listen. Dr. Szymkowiak never appeared to have any interest in my participation in my care. There was minimal indication she was listening when I shared symptoms and repeatedly lacked empathy. I had an appointment w/ her shortly after losing a family mbr, shared that information and she never acknowledged what I told her, just continued w/ the appointment as usual. I do not question her medical knowledge, however, she generally approached appointments from the stand point that she had all of the knowledge and it was her job to tell me and instruct me. There was no indication that she is aware of the benefit of finding out what the patient may already know and starting the discussion from

Dr. Szymkowiak didn't take the time to listen to my health concerns. She was cold and unfeeling, and I honestly wouldn't trust her to give me a bandaid, much less take care of serious health problems. She snapped at me several times saying, "Can I help you?" At the beginning of, during, and towards the end of my exam. She ordered a test, but didn't seem to care about what the results were going to be. I can hardly imagine her adhering to the Hippocratic oath. Maybe she only does that for th

I'm an R.N so I've worked with many physicians in my career and I can honestly say that Dr Szymkowiak is one of the best. She listens to my concern and is sensible when prescribing treatment. I trust her as being my PCP as well as my husbands.
