Thymoma Cancer Surviver
Dr Villaflor was fantastic. She’s been my oncologist for the past 3.5 years. She’s informative. Answered every question, and a pleasure to have as my doctor. She was there for me when no one else could be because of Covid protocols. She’s great!

Not educated about pancreatic cancer
This doctor would consistently give different info than the head oncologist. She was not kind to my family, never checked prior courses of action, and didn’t seem to have the answers to questions regarding pancreatic cancer. We found no warmth or compassion.

Lung Cancer Survivor
Dr. Villaflor was my Oncologist 15 years ago at the University of Chicago Hospital. I attribute my survival to her. Dr. Villaflor was the most compassionate, caring Doctor and helped me to fight and eventually conquer Lung Cancer. I would not be here without her. I will never forget her!

Happy dance
I was a patient of Dr. Villaflor at Northwestern in Chicago. She was all around great and a pleasure to be in her presence . Great bed side manners, knowledgeable, great cancer fighting strategies. I could feel she genuine cared every time I walked into her office. 2 1/2 years after 18 months of chemo therapy and radiation. Their are no signs of my cancer returning. Thank you! Dr. Villaflor

Dr. Villaflor was adamant that her pts. had had success w/Chemo even though there are only case studies to reference for my cancer. She also said she wanted me to do radiation, even though I’ve already had 2 rounds & can’t have more. She blew off my concerns, & said she did it all the time at U of Chicago. She didn’t ask me if chemo was what I wanted, just signed me up. She was brazen, arrogant, & randomly mentioned how masks don’t work & how messed up our government is. A couple days later while in a different doctor’s appt, I received 2 calls with frantic VMs from Villaflor saying she was “desperately” trying to get ahold of me & to “please please please” answer my phone. She waited about 15 min between calls, then proceeded to leave a similar VM with my fiancé (who was with me), & immediately after did the same to my mom. I was so scared when I got those calls but later learned it wasn’t dire. She called me 3 more times & never left a call back #. Steer clear & seek out a diff. dr.

A lack of empathy for the patient, my loved one. A complete disregard of the family as we acted as advocates. This was Dr. Villaflor. The only doctor during a long illness and many hospital stays who seemed less than knowledgeable amongst the team. Patronizing and callous are the kindest words I can use to describe her.

Would give her no stars if possible. She does not listen, she is rude and arrogant with NO empathy. She does in fact write horrible things in the medical record about family members that speak up during cancer treatment! News flash Villaflor, that PERSON you are "treating" has been a member of our family decades longer than that PERSON has been your patient. As such, we can and will participate in care and voice concerns/observations. This witch has no place in medicine.

According to my dad’s medical records Dr. Villaflor called my family “inappropriately hostile” on the last day of my dad’s stay, just a few days before he died from pancreatic cancer. For the 2 mos. he was in and out of that retched place in excruciating pain, it was far more common to experience a disconnected, arrogant doctor, such as Villaflor, than not. She was clearly the epitome of judgemental and insensitive toward a family who so desperately needed just a bit of empathy and compassion.

Dr. Villaflor was the worst doctor we had at NWestern in 75 days of stays in the hospital and many docs. She admittedly did not specialize in pancreatic cancer yet was treating my husband. She is condescending and did not really answer questions. When I expressed frustration at his misdiagnosis in an earlier stay, she simply shrugged it off and then entered nasty remarks about us in his medical record. Palliative care team luckily was excellent, but this doc should not treat pancreatic cancer.

I highly recommend Dr.Villaflor as a oncology specialist, she took care of my husband, while she was at the University of Chicago. I never met any one that was so compassionate about caring for her patients. She took the time to talk to her patient and listen to them. I feel blessed that my husband had her for a doctor and was able to have more time with his family. Thank You again,Dr.Villaflor.Nancy R.
