I made the mistake of making a small joke instead of promptly answering a question and got the big ' We Are Trying to Help You Here.' lecture. She also declined to refer to me as a woman, instead gesturing vaguely in my direction when asking a question that would have required her to name my gender. ' Staff was not much better: twice offering me testosterone even though I’d made clear on every form that I was a woman; sending me to Men's Room when I asked to use the restroom; and calling me 'Sir' on the phone. It's great*** that they are committed to serving trans ppl but they're delivering care in a way that does not make a transgender patient like me feel seen and heard or recognized.
