I felt a lack of support in securing an appointment for a breast MRI. I found Dr. Traina to be very dismissive. She did a quick exam and told me “you’re not high risk.” I had to follow her out to ask questions. She was talking with her receptionist about my mammogram report. I tried to tell her that the MD who did my ultrasound had told me I had either a mass or scar. Dr. Traina argued that the report was inconclusive. I then needed to have a core needle biopsy. Dr. Traina referred me for this. I decided to transfer to another MD. At that point Dr. Traina pulled her referral for my biopsy, which caused me to lose my appointment. I ultimately had surgery to remove a pre-cancerous breast tumor, and was diagnosed with lobular carcinoma in situ, and atypical lobular hyperplasia. So I am in fact considered “high risk,” even though I have no family history of breast cancer. I have never had an experience like this with a doctor before. I know of 1 other person with a similar experience.
