Dr. Valeria Anaya, MD

So I have a complex case with many overlapping conditions, but Dr. Anaya and I work together to optimize the things in my control. Other psyschiatrists sometimes made me feel like a disobedient lab rat with little say in my own care. With Dr Anaya, I can speak my mind and she respectfully offers her insight on my options. I think she has cultural competence which makes me feel safer as a QPOC. Lastly, I agree w the other patient that the agency (PCPA) has stressful billing practices, but faulting the practitioner who has no control is misguided. Do read their website before you book.. I’ve never heard of a 72 business hour window before and the $400+ penalty is scary

She's a pretty good psychiatrist. She seems like she operates from a holistic perspective and will ask you questions about sleep and diet, what's going on in your life, etc...taking enough time to try to really understand what's going on with you. She also seems very culturally aware and understands how culture fits into the equation. She obviously doesn't necessarily encourage self-medication, but she doesn't stigmatize it or come across as super Darth Vader about it. She actually helped me reduce my alcohol intake. She also seems like she's actually interested in your health and well-being.

It is unconscionable, immoral, and an exercise in predatory payment policies to ask someone who just lost their job to pay over $250 for a visit that she tried to cancel 72 hours beforehand. Sadly, it erodes respect for the medical profession. Not only was the psychiatrist unable to help in any way, the repeated bills that she sends adds to her anxiety. Avoid this place at all costs. I wish that I could give this place a negative review as 1 star seems far too generous.
