Time with patient
Dr. Patel is an excellent surgeon, but his bedside manner (so to speak) leaves a bit to be desired. He is much too abrupt and you are left with the feeling that you are taking up his precious time. Be sure to block his exit from the exam room if you expect to ask him a question.

Dr. Patel performed my cataract surgery. As a result I have very clear vision in that eye. I have glaucoma and AMD. He has to see so many patients per day that your visit may seem rushed. However, if you have questions he will answer them professionally. I highly recommend Dr. Patel.

Dr. Patel always goes the extra mile when an eye emergency happens. My condition calls for sometimes, unfortunately, after hours and weekend visits. Dr. Patel is always kind to meet me when I need it. He even offered to find me another ophthalmologist if my problem happened when I was out of town. Very generous in checking on me after hours as well. When thanking him for taking the extra time for me he said, (quote) "what good are doctors if they are not there to help when you need it."

I recently had cataracts in both eyes removed by Dr. Patel. He showed me pictures of the progressive clouding that was occurring and explained the necessity of having the lenses replaced. He did not suggest there would be any improvement in my eyesight and so I proceeded with the surgeries to keep the clouding from progressing. His staff was outstanding in setting up the surgeries and keeping me informed. The surgeries could not have gone any easier. I don't believe they lasted more than 10 minutes each and I experienced no pain or discomfort either time. The recovery was swift and to my delight my vision after the surgeries improved greatly to the point where I no longer need glasses. I cant tell you how pleased I am, how glad I am to have had these done and how good Dr. Patel and his staff were. I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend him and his organization.

After a thorough examination by his fantastic staff, he entered the room. Looking at my eyes, he mentioned my cataract was getting worse. I asked which one (yes, I believe I have two cataracts) and he said the left. I wanted to make sure I understood his statement. He proceeded to take a picture of it and sent it to my phone. I asked him about it and he said it was a Dense Nuclear Cataract and I should do a web search to find out more. Needless to say, I was astounded, if fact, I was speechless! My trusted ophthalmologist didn’t/ wouldn’t take a moment to explain a serious condition of my eyesight and expected me to do the research! How bad is it? Should it be treated sooner or later? If let go, will it get worse? Further when I asked him about cataract surgery, recovery times, lens types, etc., he flippantly responded he wasn’t a salesman and pulled out a pamphlet for me to read! To summarize, he never gave a professional opinion and left it to me to do the research.

Absolutely amazing!! The process and the professionalism of Dr Patel and his staff. This is the first time I have seen this clearly in 3 or more decades. And this is after the first lens implant, can wait to experience life after the next one. Don't go any longer with less than the vision you need and desire, life is too short to go around in the dark.
