Does not listen
The Berkley office is not well labeled. I thought I was lost when the title “Troy gastro or Center for digestive health” was no where to be seen. The receptionist was my medical assistant? I did not feel comfortable sharing my personal health history with the receptionist. The door was open during my entire appointment, other people could have heard everything discussed in my appointment. I felt like my privacy was not there. I over heard Dr desai comment on another patients increase of weight after my appointment. The door was open, I was able to hear other patients PHI. The doctor repeats the same things over and over. I felt that he barely listening to my issues. I will not be going back to see this doctor. I do not recommend him to anyone.

Dr spent most of visit typing every comment I made about my health issue. He offered no comment other than "I don't think it's a problem." To make matters worse a few days after my appointment I called the office to advise my problem was getting worse. Dr returned my call and said he was ordering a script and a CT scan - neither of which happened. A subsequent visit to another specialist rendered different results necessitating 2 immediate diagnostic procedures.

Support staff who answered the phone/took appointments was consistently rude. I have never had such bad customer service. Took me 3 weeks and multiple calls to get a medication refill. When I was eventually able to see Dr Desai, in response to my concern, he reported "loving to yell at his staff." I was not given clear instructions on follow up care. Was not given instructions on rescheduling. Was told staff would call me to check in. I received a call within a week, was not able to answer. When I attempted to return the call, staff acted confused and irritated that I was calling. I never received a follow up call. I have since scheduled with another Dr. Would not recommend.

Dr Desai is an incredible gastroenterologist. I have been suffering for months with a chronic, productive cough and no one could get to the root of the problem. Complicating the issue is my chronic lymphocytic leukemia. On the 21st of December, 2017, Dr Desai performed an endoscopy and injected Botox into my esophagus. Magic! I have ceased coughing. He is caring, competent, and always on call for his patients. There is no one with whom I would rather deal than he. Dr Desai is the best.

I had a very unusual case of stomach ulcers that proved to be extremely hard to treat. Other gastroenterologists didn't take it very seriously and my condition worsened, eventually sending me to the ER at Beaumont RO. From the moment I met Dr. Desai, it was pretty clear that this guy was one of the best. He took my case very seriously, visiting and talking with me daily while I was admitted (and often checked up on me personally after I was discharged). There isn't a gastro god I trust more.
