Very knowledgeable and explains procedure well. I appreciate his excellence in the 2 hand surgeries I have had. We are lucky to have him in Norfolk.

Out off all our visits to Norfolk, we have only seen Dr. Hartzell once. He has not been present at any follow up appointments. The front office has always been rude- in person and in the phone. Today, we drove an hour for our 11:15 appointment which I scheduled on 11-13-17. They stated they did not have us in their schedule and due to their mistake we have been in the waiting room waiting for over an hour. We are being “disciplined” for their scheduling mistake. Always long waits and rude staff.

When a firework blew up in my hand, I was told that I needed a complete amputation at the level of my writ. I had heard about Dr. Hartzell and asked to be transferred to his hospital. He saved it, and while it is not perfect I am eternally grateful to have a functional hand that I can do most everything with.
