I saw Dr Smith in 2009 when he was in the West Valley…he diagnosed my PMR. He was wonderful.

Go anywhere else!
I was a patient for several years, kept thinking I should give them a chance and diagnosis takes time. They refused to try or discuss any other treatment options even though the results were ineffective. I almost always had to see the unpleasant PA as Dr Smith was overbooked. The last time I did see him he spent much of the appointment saying how overworked and underappreciated he was. Just not a good experience. I don't think they listen to the patients or look hard for effective treatment.

Reconsider this physician
Dr. Smith refused to look any further than Rheumatoid Arthritis, even after my strange lab results and pleading with them that maybe something else is going on. I got very frustrated with his PA. I gave Dr. Smith 7 months to help me. Then I knew I had to somehow wiggle my way into Mayo. My dermatologist, Dr. Margaret Kessler is the one who wanted to do the skin biopsy on my finger because she suspected Dermatomyocitis. Even after the positive result came back, Dr. Smith would not acknowledge the result. He never contacted me or proceed to investigate further.   I confronted him and told him why I was leaving him to go to Mayo. Then he started back paddling and all of a sudden began to show concern. It was too late by then. His PA sternly told me I did not have Dermatomyocitis and I only had Rheumatoid Arthritis. She accused me of screaming at her. (This did not happen, I had witnesses in there). The office does not return phone calls. It was always very difficult to see Dr. Smith.

Dr. Smith is my favorite Rheumatologist
like Dr. Smith very much! I have several autoimmune conditions and two types of arthritis and have been a patient of his since my former rheumatologist retired and recommended Dr. Smith in 2011. I have been to several other rheumatologists in Arizona and California since being diagnosed initially with osteoarthritis in 1986 and Sjogren's in 1997. And now 16 years later it has progressed to most my joints. Dr. Smith is the only Rheumatologist who has understood my conditions and offered helpful treatments. He is kind and understanding. Yes, there is often a long wait to make an appointment and also waiting for the scheduled appointment time. But, to me it is worth the wait when I compare how I was treated in the past by other Rheumatologists. Dr. Smith graduated from the top of his class and he is very knowledgable of rheumatic conditions. From my perspective and experience with Dr. Smith, he is well worth the wait and I can't imagine going to anyone else. If you have arI

Dr Trent Smith is a good clinician. However, office poorly run. No one returns phone calls. Wait times for appointments are excessive. Getting lab orders mailed out for telehealth appointments takes 3 requests. No response from requests through patient portal.

Dr Smith has made many mistakes in my treatment which caused injuries. The doctors office is poorly run with wait times exceeding two and a half hours. It was a running joke with the office dr Smith being hours behind- however as a patient waiting it was not so funny. I would not recommend this doctor. I have seen patients in screaming arguments with the front office over the care they received. The doctor has bad follow through with test results being lost or mislaid. The doctor and his office are disorganized and haphazard in my experience with them. As I have said you might be better off with a different (better) physician.

Is refusing to fill much needed prednisone during a world health pandemic unless I come into his office for a prescription. I have an auto immune disease, which he treats and diagnosed, have been told to stay home by every health professional in the world, but they are refusing to fill my medication unless I come to the last place I should be.

Don’t try to get test results or request anything. If you stand up for yourself they kick you out to the curb. 8 years of treatment and staff and NP control your fate.

I totally agree with all the negative reviews here. Dr Smith and his staff can’t be bothered to return calls. I had tests done to see us a new medication would be better for me, and to this day have never gotten results. That was over 8 months ago. I would never recommend him to anyone. All he did during my appointments was make excuses as to why he was running over a hour late. He needs to take a good look at his manner of practice. When I read what he had to say about himself I had to laugh!! He needs to read it again and start practicing what he says..

If there was a Zero rating I’d give it. He & his RN don’t deserve even one star. I told the truth in my rating & healthgrades won’t publish it. I have 3 drs who would verify my facts health grades apparently is in favor of the medical field not the patient.

Dr Smith started out well, but after a few years, my trust in him was lost. He wanted to start me on a chemo infusion because he said my kidneys were spilling protein again. Thankfully I got in to see a nephrologist before I started because my kidneys weren't having any trouble at all.

THE most incompetent office I have had to deal with EVER! They don't return your phone calls, take months to get you your results and do not respond to requests from other doctors for medical records (despite an ROI). The front desk gal will just give you attitude and blame shift and they try to charge you to collect your own medical records! This place was a total waste of my time and out of pocket money. If he is a good doctor, you wouldn't know b/c he is only as good as his weakest link.

I didn't have one because I wasn't allowed to make an appointment without a referral. I have a problem that needs attention and I refuse to pay another doctor to write me a piece of paper saying so. Also, I called for 3 days and all my calls went to voicemail. Finally on day 3 someone called me back.
