After my pain management doctor retired. I was recommended to Dr Timothy Kuang MD I found him professional and compassionate. Important manners for a 72 yr old wheelchair bound grandma.

His staff
I don’t have a problem with the doctor himself I did feel rushed, but he did listen to me. It’s his staff trying to get an authorization and trying to get an appointment was ridiculous. The authorization girl does not return phone calls, and finally when I did get a hold of her, she wanted me to call my insurance and get the information, and when I told her the numbers on the back of the card, she became rude a month or so later she finally answered the phone and I told her I could go to dignity health and she put an authorization and now I’m trying to get a hold of her to schedule the MRI and now my authorization has expired so I’m back to square one . I’m going to my primary doctor to handle this I won’t be back.

My father’s doctor for years
He wasn’t a bad doctor. As far as bedside manners, I wouldn’t classify him as “personable” but professional. The only reason we stopped seeing him was the policy change with the pain clinic that they would no longer see patients who lived beyond a certain distance from the clinic. But he wasn’t bad, he saw my dad’s injuries from work in the beginning and he did try to help as best he could but the only treatment option left was medications, which we just had to accept. Some injuries don’t heal well. He does know what he’s talking about, and from a professional level, he was decent as a treating physician. The staff had issues, yes, but that would be it’s own review and I’m only specifically speaking to Dr. Kuang’s professionalism and knowledge.

I highly recommend Dr. Kuang! I had been waiting for a long overdue Epidural injection, and when I mentioned that my appointment was booked a month out, Dr. Kuang suggested I make my appointment in Santa Maria for a quicker appointment time…. three weeks earlier! I so appreciate this! Dr. Kuang listens to me and is doing what he can to alleviate my pain! I am very appreciative of Dr. Kuang!

I was a patient of Dr. Kuang several years ago for spinal stenosis, for which he gave me a series of epidural injections. I was in almost unbearable pain in my legs and the injections made all the difference and finally got rid of the pain. Now, years later, I have the stenosis again and have seen Dr. Kuang and will start the injections again. I have complete confidence in Dr. Kuang. I find him to be compassionate, kind and very concerned about his patients' pain level. I would not trust anyone else to stick a needle into my spine, but I have complete trust in him. I find his staff to be efficient, helpful and friendly. In particular I like the fact that the clinic invests in a large staff instead of a fancy office building. I don't need cushy chairs, lovely paintings, chandeliers and waterfalls in the waiting room--I need service from my doctor and that is what I get from Pain Specialists. I can't say enough good about Dr. Kuang.

I was there for an nerve ablation. He said he could only do half my back today then wanted me to come back in 6 weeks to do the other side. He said a week before he could do both sides at once. Dr Patel at the same clinic will do both.

His staff is so unprofessional, just throw a bunch of times for appointments and pick one. Saying that because the scheduleing for this place is HORRIBLE. To treat patients this was is so disrespectful to not only their time but to the money they pay out for these appointments. Only giving one star because that’s the lowest there was no options for no stars on this raiting. RESPECT is a two way street, learn to have respect for your paitients like the respect you have for the money you get. ??

He wont see you. He makes you see his nurse and she is horrible. They take away your meds without giving you anything to replace them with. How can you manage pain if all you do is take away ppls meds? I dont recommend this doctor or his nurse practitioner at all!

I absolutely hate having appts with Dr Kuang which is why I see the NP or PA as much as possible. He has NO bedside manners. When I said it would be nice if he said hi and/or asked how I was doing, he said he didn't have time for that, too many patients (even though I pointed out that the other docs do). Next appt he was condescending. Doesn't remember what procedures he's recently done on me. Will say he seemed more human @ last procedure. Also, he does seem knowledgeable. Ratings are for SLO.

My initial visit with Dr. Kuang was productive and satisfactorily. He was easy to talk to and seemed genuinely interested in my concerns. No rushing to judgement until I was able to see several other professionals for x-rays and physical therapy.

I see Dr Kuang for pain in my lower back. He has performed 3 epidurals on me and I have felt amazing after each one. I think he is very conscientious and cares about his patients and their well being. Yes his office is small and busy but the outcomes I have received have all been worth it. I find his staff friendly, very busy and always apologetic if there is a wait.

Stay away from this place. The doctor (Kuang) wore a mask every time I saw him. I don't know what the heck he looks like. The office is a zoo. It is small, dirty, loud and unwelcoming. While under his care, I broke my patella and was prescribed pain meds upon release. No pharmacy would fill the prescription because I was under contract with Kuang. Finally, after much complaining and pain, I was able to cancel the? contract.?They don't care about the patient.
