Surgeon since 2008
This is an outstanding physician. He has done a gastric bypass on me in 2008. I have kept my weight off and in that time I have had a few ulcers that he had taken care of. It is the kindest precise doctor I’ve ever had I would not let another surgeon touch my stomach Outside of Dr. Timothy Custard.

6 years ago this year Dr. Custer allowed me to live my life again. Gastric Bypass surgery went well, walked me through everything all the way through. After surgery came in every day and sat and talked with me. Had a hiccup with an ulcer but was given the correct meds and was fine. A year after that went to Fairfield ER with the same symptoms that I had before when I had an ulcer. The ER doctor didn’t offer to call to see what he wanted to do. Was given an X-ray and told that I basically just needed to use the restroom and I would be fine. I allowed months to go by with symptoms getting worse. Hurt to eat hurt to drink. Woke up one morning at 3 a.m. with my heart racing gasping for air. I thought I was having a heart attack. Went to Genesis via ambulance in Zanesville where I was treated like I was a drug seeker. In extreme pain had a ct scan done where they found an ulcer had ruptured and was now infecting my body. Was transported to Fairfield where Doctor Custer was waiting for me and rushed me back to surgery. Kept my family updated while in surgery and came to check on me every day until I went home always sitting and talking with me and trying to figure out how it had gotten this far. Fairfield ER never contacted his office like they said they would. Great doctor, always willing to take the time and listen, guide and joke with you.

Dr. Custer removed my gallbladder and in 2016 fixed a ventral hernia which requires a large incision. Both my surgeries went perfectly. He is knowledgeable and caring and made me comfortable after both surgeries with proper medication for pain. I would recommend him to anyone.

Making appointments for lapband adjustments became a pain because the doctor is not personable or supportive at all. When I started vomiting and asked the doctor why, he shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know. He removed some of the fluid and went on to his next patient. That was my last appointment. My appointments with him left me feeling awful about myself and hopeless about being able to get the weight back off. I would never recommend him. I now receive better care somewhere else.

I was referred to Dr. Custer by Fairfield Medical Center for a hernia repair. This was my fourth hernia repair in 35 years. He performed the surgery perfectly. Two days into recovery and the discomfort is very low. I highly recommend Dr. Custer if you have surgical needs. He's a highly skilled surgeon.
