Constipation problem
I saw Dr. Trouillot for a constipation issue. I was looking for a medication that I could take long term to correct it. I have been taking Dulcolax. It causes cramping which I don't care for. He recommended continue taking the med because it has the least possibility of dependance and becoming ineffective. He also recommended taking fiber daily. He found out that I needed a colonoscopy from 20 years ago. Fun stuff.

Not good. Dismissive, abrupt, threw out an incorrect assessment of my issue. Acted like I was wasting his time.

Thomas Trouillot was by far one of the most uneducated doctors in regards to celiac disease. I was diagnosed very early in life. I show up negative on a blood test because I’ve been on a strict gf diet for 17 YEARS. He thought I wasn’t being honest with him and questioned me in length and made me feel so frustrated and like I was on trial. He said I was being way to cautious about cross contamination. He seemed utterly clueless about how minor wheat/gluten exposure can ruin an entire week for me. He pushed for an endoscopy which I agreed to but upon further conversation with my partner I didn’t feel safe being in his care.

Visited this doctor a few times over the course of a year for a couple digestive problems. My most recent visit was a follow up due to ongoing abdominal pain. He was irritated, implied I was wasting his time, and told me to take OTC antacids. Effectively told me to see a GP instead. I went to a different doctor for help, and was tested positive for H. Pylori, a stomach infection that has some serious implications if left untreated. Now getting the treatment I needed all this time. If you want a doctor that takes your health issues seriously, avoid Trouillot.

The best doctor ever! He spent a lot of time with me & actually examined me unlike Rocky Mountain Gastro. At RMG, I never saw a doctor unless I had surgery. If I have to have an exam once a year then I expect to be seem by a doctor not a PA. Dr Trouillot has a great bedside manner & is very friendly & fun. Everyone in the office was super nice. He explains everything & took his time.

On my very first appointment I was never introduced to the intern who was in the room, nor was I asked if it was ok if he was present. Dr. Trouillot’s bedside manner didn’t work for me. He was dismissive of symptoms and concerns and ultimately felt there wasn’t anything wrong and yet he still recommended an endoscopy. He said to quit chewing gum and the issues would probably resolve (he gave an nice eye roll when he saw what type of gum I chew). ?? Overall unprofessional. A colleague had worked with him while he was a fellow and he came highly recommended. Needless to say I didn’t schedule the endoscopy with him and I’ll never go back.

I have been working with Dr. T for over a decade. However...his staff is absolutely horrible. I should have been on a "maintenance plan" yet there was never any follow-up at all over the years... no return phone calls... in fact most calls go to voicemail and even the v-mail was full half the time... Recently I needed a refill and called the office to see about getting my blood work done so I can get a refill before leaving town. That request was never processed thus when I got to the lab (a week after I was told all will be take in care of) the lab staff informed me that the request was not in their system... we called the Dr.'s office and was told it will be take in care of the same day... needless to say that did not happen. During the next couple of days I was not happy (understandably) and was passed around between the office manager and an assistant and a scheduler. Zero follow-up personally by Dr. T. At the end I got a 30 day refill with a nasty note on the bottle...

Dr. Trouillot passed me off as having IBS and sent me home with probiotics, which made my stomach bloating much worse. When I had a breath test done by an ND that revealed I had SIBO (and I needed antibiotics) he was irate, and treated me like an idiot. He refused to believe I had sibo. I was eventually able to do the breath tests by MD's at UCHealth. I've had a very long and terrible journey with Sibo, but Dr. Trouillot has been the least informed, and the least helpful.

If you are in need of a GI who actually cares about his/her patients, then you should look for someone else. It is hard to get an appointment, he doesn't remember who you are, and you have to remind him of your entire past medical history EVERY TIME. I recently switched insurances and just needed them to fill out a prior authorization form. After many phone calls, I ended up hand delivering the form to them. Of which, a week later, is still not returned.
