excellent Doctor and excellent person!
Dr Thomas Schmalzried performed surgery on me twice, both hips and provided new surface replacement arthroplasty on both sides. These surgeries were performed in 2002 and 2004.So its been many years of good health. I had zero pain about a week or so after surgery and remained that way. He is an excellent surgeon and great person. While in the hospital over Christmas, he brought his daughter in to meet me, which was the kindest gesture and really made my Christmas.!. A fine doctor and person!

On a scale of 1-10 I would give Dr. Schmalzried a 99.9!! I thought I would never have the quality of life I anticipated after having a hip replacement that was shorter than my other leg and twisted. Dr. Schmalzried took the previous doctors failed hip out and gave me a new one that made my leg straight and the right length. I can never thank him enough! I have hiked all over Kauai, Montana, Banff and Italy and I plan on adding many more hikes in the future. My only regret is that I did not go to him for my first hip surgery!

I had a hip replacement from Dr. Schmalzried a little over 4 years ago. I thought after this period of time my review would be noteworthy because of the sufficient time passed to give an honest and authentic review of how my life has changed. My pain level is zero. My ability to pursue the vigorous lifestyle I was hoping for is a dream come true. The improvement is so profound that I feel 20 years younger and that I got a whole new lease on life. It is paramount that one does their post-op physical therapy and pay attention to one's nutrition, and they will see amazing benefits too. In summation I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to Dr. Schmalzried for his professionalism, skill and human decency. The entire staff deserves a big shout out too!

Dr Schmalzreid did a hip replacement and bilateral knee replacements for me. I currently play competitive basketball; have just returned from playing in the National senior games. Dr Schmalzreid gave me back my active lifestyle, and did so in a caring, compassionate manner. My pain was extreme and the relief complete. I have no restrictions at all.

Dr. Schmalzreid took me under his wing & discussed his magic words of experience to me & it sinks immediately with me because of my years as an athlete & Surfer & trained pretty hard my whole life for this sport. His words of wisdom were “ Eric I can get you back to the healthy separation you had within your hip in High School. My records & experience really tells me except how your muscular structure has grown for over 50 years & you do not want to change that balance. Solid Truthful facts!!!!
