Dr. Thomas John, MD

Took my daughter first to CityMD for an X-ray of her wrist. They said it was a buckle fracture and to confirm with an orthopedist. Went to Dr. John. He felt around her wrist, looked at the X-ray and confirmed it was a buckle fracture. That was it. We went down the hallway and she got a brace and a sling. I got a bill for $400 for the office visit and then another bill for $1,100 for “treatment” of a buckle fracture. “Time and rest” is what he told us. There is NO TREATMENT for a buckle fracture. $1,500??? I’ll pay the $400 but am disputing with his office who won’t get back to me. Really seemed like a nice guy. And probably a good doctor. But what a lousy thing to do.

I found him to be very thorough and patient. Seemed to understand my goal and wanted to help me get there - life without restrictions due to pain.

The overall office vibe is busy, efficient, assembly-line health care. Dr, John is not the most personable physician - no smile and not much of a bedside manner. He gets to the point quickly, but some of his explanations require followup. He's patient answering questions. I didn't particularly care for him personally, but he did a good job figuring out the likely problem and referring me to a neurologist. I see from reviews that others had far more favorable personal experiences, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt with five stars. AetnaHealth's patent summary of my visit had information that was incorrect and also prescription medication information that I didn't provide. I don't care for that and will avoid Summit in the future.

Dr. John is highly skilled and performs many of his procedures via MAKO robotic surgery... He has performed a RTKR(right total knee replacement) and will soon operate on my left knee.. He was even able to correct a deformity that has changed my life! He is highly respected by the orthopedic nurses/staff at HUMC and has even operated on many professional athletes.. Dr. John has an awesome patient coordinator(Jeri) and physican's assistant(Connor).......I would recommend him to anyone looking for a surgeon who is fellowship-trained in joint replacement!

Dr John is a fabulous physician. He takes time with you to go over all relative medical history and determine best course of treatment. He is very kind and compassionate and is highly skilled in hip and knee replacements. Office was very efficient and staff kind and friendly. Overall great experience

My experience with Dr John was fantastic. He is friendly, caring and above all takes him time with you. I had 2 surgeries (hip replacement) and he made a very scary time easier. I would highly recommend Dr John. He literally gave me my life back. I was suffering for a long time before I saw him.

dr. john is someone i will always recommend to my family and friends. he is professional complete knowledge of my case and you leave the office feeling you have gotten the best care and advice the office staff is also very responsive

One of the worst Drs I have ever gone to. Very short with patients, does not explain what he’s doing, he is interested in getting you in and out as fast as possible so he can bill. The entire practice,,,Active Orthopedic is terrible!

I am always nervous going to a Dr. From the minute I walked in, the front desk was so pleasant. Everyone in the office is so nice and professional. Dr John was really caring about my ailment and listened to my concerns. No one likes going to the Dr but having a whole office be nice to you, makes it so much better. Thank you!!

Very efficient office. I had an xray and consultation in about 30 minutes. Dr. John was friendly, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Fortunately, I didn't need ongoing treatment, but I would go back again if a future need arises.

Spent a significant amount of time with me, explained my diagnosis, allowed me to ask all my questions. Feel great !

Would not recommend him as a doctor.

I consulted with multiple specialists before choosing Dr. John as my surgeon. I am now at home after a total hip replacement and doing amazingly well. He is not only a skilled surgeon, but compassionate and caring and able to answer all my concerns as he understood how anxious I was. I highly recommend him!
