Our family has been working with Dr Frandsen for several years. His care is thoughtful, scientifically sound, thorough and compassionate. I’m a retired RN and am very particular about those whom I trust with my health care and the care of my family. Excellent

Felt ignored as a female patient
Dr. Frandsen is a very old school, basic doctor. I was excited that he would see me in the hospital after the birth of my child, however, his attention to my concerns and questions over time just left me frustrated and sad. He and his nurses refused to let me hold my baby when they got their vaccinations, even though I asked every single appointment. Instead they had me hold them down on the table - which seems unnecessarily cruel. He also didn't do anything to make my baby feel safe - it felt like he didn't know how to interact with babies or children...even though he has his own? Whenever we asked for alternatives to drugs for ourselves or our baby, he didn't offer any and asked why we wouldn't just take the steroid or antibiotic. My last straw was when I came in concerned about multiple symptoms and weight loss postpartum, and he told me 'well that's not a bad thing is it?'. Ugh. I expected more from a doctor under 50.

Office Staff is discourteous and unprofessional
I do not recommend Dr. Thomas Frandsen at Missoula Family Medicine. My experience with the front office staff was incredibly frustrating as they were unprofessional, impolite, and rude. I scheduled my appointment ~2 weeks in advance, and arrived early. I provided my ID & Insurance Card, as requested. The receptionist immediately began shaking her head, and explained that she's not able to bill my insurance as my card doesn't have my Member ID. I provided my digital insurance card, and even called Blue Cross to confirm coverage. Blue Cross advised the office should simply bill using my social security number, and they'd update with my member ID automatically when it's assigned. The receptionist continued shaking her head, telling me they've been burned too many times. The implication was I was effectively lying, despite offering to provide a full deposit for my visit. I don't recommend this office.
