Unprofessional and Greedy
I have been a patient of Dr. Duncan’s for about two years now and have been blown away by his level of service and concern for his patients. I was always given the impression that he has his patients’ best interest at heart and was never concerned about money or billing. He held my hand, and together, we fought my depression, anxiety, and everything else my body threw our way. He was patient, kind, and made me feel like I was family. I thought I had finally found a doctor who cared about me, rather than my money. I was wrong. Recently, Dr. Duncan converted his practice to a “membership-only” operation. To keep a long story short—he will charge you an outrageous monthly or annual fee to retain his services, all while continuing to bill your insurance for procedures, office visits, and phone calls. I find this offensive and disgusting. I do not believe this is in the best interest of his patients, but of his pockets. I will not be returning to Duncan Family Medicine and will seek care

Best doctor I have ever had.
Dr. Duncan has helped me improve my health strategies, goals, energy level, and much more. I can only begin to tell you how happy I am that I stayed when he upgraded his practice. Over the last year I have had the best healthcare of my life. Dr. Duncan is great and everyone at the office greets me by name and lets me know they care.

Too Bad
He was great until he changed his model so he could buy more Corvettes. I started looking for a new doctor the day I heard about the concierge thing. I just barely managed to get a doctor and had to wait months to get in, but that is working out a lot better. I knew if I waited, there would be hundreds of others competing with me for a doctor!

Great Dr
I have been seeing Dr Duncan for years. I have had nothing but positive experiences with him. I was always able to get an appointment with him on short notice, he always got back to me. He has always been there when I needed help. I literally have nothing bad to say about him. I have noticed some reviews, I don't think are very honest. Many of them pertain to his new practice model. First off, it was NOT "without warning". We all knew way ahead of time. We were well informed about the change and what it meant. Second, I don't believe it is a cash grab, I believe it was something he wanted to do, preventative medicine, instead of reactionary medicine. That changes the framework of how things are done. Third, grown-ups do not need other people holding their hands to find a new primary care physician, you are responsible for you.

Wonderful Experience and Care
I had the best experience with Dr. Duncan. He is in the process of changing to a membership only practice, and I am very excited for him. My first appointment lasted a whole hour and we talked about everything. He listens very well and gave me some great functional/natural ways to go about treating my medical issues. Doing this type of practice will allow him to focus more on preventative and comprehensive care for each patient, unlike a practice that relies on making decisions based on insurance. Honestly, I understand, that small single practitioner practices just can't survive with all the corporations that are coming in and buying up all of our healthcare facilities and offices. Paying a membership allows Dr. Duncan to practice the way he should, and maintain his business at the same time. He is probably the most caring physician I have ever had. He truly loves his patients and now can do more for them.

Without warning, Dr. Duncan changed his practice to a concierge model where you need to pay an extra fee, hundreds of dollars for the top "tier", in order to be privileged enough to continue having his services. No referrals to other local physicians were given to his many patients who either cannot afford the fee or choose not to support this new way of filtering out regular people from private medical practices. Just an abrupt end to services by a certain date. However, even before that date it was impossible to make an appointment as phones were going to voicemail for the "new practice". My request for a referral was not answered So disappointing and this borders on unethical behavior. Now not only will insurance pay him, but you will, too. I will miss my nurse practitioner from there. I felt like I had found a good provider, being new to the Olympia area. I guess not.

THE WORST! They need to do better here. I slipped through the cracks too many times while under his care. If you want a doctor that misdiagnoses, prescribes medications as a knee jerk reaction, does not listen to your concerns, does minimal, slow, subpar work, then look no further! I had a misdiagnoses from Dr. Duncan in May for a post concussion which he prescribed me meds for but turned out I didn’t have one. Most recently I was suffering from constant side pain. I told him it had been going on for weeks, and hurt to breathe, sneeze, cough, yawn, hiccup. He didn't take my concern seriously and told me my massage referral would work for that and to take pain meds. My pain got worse and I pushed back for alternative treatment. After jumping through hoops, a night at the ER, and several tests later, an 8” tumor was found. Almost 2 weeks later, still waiting to see a surgeon because Dr. Duncan didn’t do what ER instructed & sent surgeon incomplete file, delaying my treatment

Dr. Duncan is a money grabbing doctor that cares little about his patients well being. I think he should go back and review his Hippocratic Oath. Don't even get met started about the 1.43 cent bill they sent me three times... finally paid that PITA. And then promptly fired him for negligence.

Yeap I had the problems theses two people had. The funny thing is that Duncan knew knew me for years and had no problem treating me then he opened a new practice and forgot all about me. Now I do give him 2 stars because for years he was a kind man difficult to talk to sometimes but he is human but Encounters I had with him last 4 times were wrong period. “Hippocratic oath is even a thing anymore? What is happened to healthcare generally speaking in this country? How are doctors like Duncan able to stay in business and operate the way they do being a detriment to the health of individuals they profess to care about? Sad /\+++” “ I was a patient with Dr. Duncan for over 15 years. I left his care with an undiagnosed stage IV terminal cancer. My new doc referred me for testing. I would say Duncan missed some important symptoms and did not do his job.”

My wife was accepted as a new patient by Dr. Duncan at a time he wasn't accepting new patients when he learned that my wife had a lump on her temple and her ex-MD thought it was a skin condition. Dr. Duncan made room in his schedule to examine her and immediately referred her to a very competent surgeon and oncologist. The lump was a Lymphoma tumor. Due to Dr. Duncan's actions in a few days all the tests were done and she was in chemo treatment. It's been over two years now and she remains cancer free.

IMO Thomas Duncan is arguably one of the worst doctors I have ever seen.I was referred to him by a friend and saw him for one visit with the promise that I would be taken on as a regular patient. After I had a falling out with the friend who referred me. Thomas Duncan and his staff refused to talk to me or even refer me on even though I was in what I would find to be stage III kidney failure. At first I had referred my parents to Doctor Duncan because I thought he was a man with a virtuous character. Now that they are patients of his the mental stress I have seen this caused them being under his care is unconscionable. If there was a way to put a negative star rating I would rate Doctor Duncan at -2. I wonder if the Hippocratic oath is even a thing anymore? What is happened to healthcare generally speaking in this country? How are doctors like Duncan able to stay in business and operate the way they do being a detriment to the health of individuals they profess to care about? Sad /\+++

Dr. Duncan is an exceptional individual. He's extremely passionate about the work he does and you can see that in the way he speaks with you and carries himself. I get fairly anxious when visiting the doctor's office and he could tell. He really worked with me to put me at ease and I can say for certain that I will continue use Dr. Duncan as my Primary Care Physician. Great energy about the place, highly recommend.

Dr. Duncan is the perfect family practice physician. He has up to date knowledge on current health issues, and experience and expertise in the daily afflictions which we all seem to have from time to time. His PSA screening may have saved my life as I'm currently in the process of being treated for an aggressive prostate cancer.
