Dr. Thomas Buchanan, MD

Dr. Buchanan really took the time to listen to me and treated me holistically. I have never had a physician look at me as a person rather than a customer. He helped me so much with my migraines and other issues. A true God-send

Rushed visited. Doesn’t take the time to listen. I’m a mental patient for hells sakes. I could die tomorrow and he would be none the wiser. I can’t commicate. I write things down to remember. He after persistent tries, didn’t want to read it. Got a fancy referral to a different person.

After having a terribly traumatic experience with a different neurologist, I was hesitant to see another when I was referred here. Let me just say, there's a reason I had to wait to see this guy and didn't have to wait for the other guy who works for some company with RH initials in the town of bulldogs... on a grand road. He admitted he didn't have all the answers, was knowledgeable about LONG COVID (first wave long haulers... this guy gets it!) and POTS, and did what he could to help. He asked incredibly thoughtful questions, listened well, and I could tell he was well informed. I drove 7 hours round trip and would gladly do it again. HIGH recommendations! When I asked if it was possibly XYZ I read about on Dr. Google he sent labwork for antibody testing to check just in case. He said he didn't want that to be what was wrong with me, but seemed to respect my quest for answers.

Dr. Buchanan has helped me with migraines. He listens to his patients and clearly explains treatment options. Recommend him.

Dr. Buchanan has been so helpful in treating my MS. My journey has been difficult, but he has helped me so much. He has an excellent bedside manner and takes the time to really listen to your concerns and helps find a treatment for them. I am so grateful to find an excellent neurologist close to home, so I don’t have to travel far for great care!

Dr. Buchanan takes the time to listen about what you are experiencing and what your concerns are. He never makes you feel like he’s in a hurry to get to the next patient. Works with you for a solution and what you are comfortable with.

Dr. Buchanan listened to me explain my ailments without dismissing them as unimportant, which was a huge relief because I’ve seen several doctors before him who would just shrug off my issues. He explained his plan for my treatment well, and gave me the plan in writing so I wouldn’t forget, which I appreciate. He seems very kind, and he was easy to talk to. This was my first appointment so I can only base my review off of that. It did take a little bit in the waiting room before he came in, but that was understandable with him being the only neurologist in all of eastern Utah.

I drive 4 hrs. To see Dr. Buchanan he is worth the drive. He listens and he cares. My MS was flaring and I called his office, was told it was over a month out to get in to see him. I scheduled them they called me about 10 minutes later and told me he wanted to see me tomorrow. He worked me in. He’s great.

It's taken me years to find Dr. Buchanan! He was the first one who didn't dismiss me, actually ran the necessary tests, and has given me a diagnosis that should have come almost forty years ago! He takes good care of me, makes sure I have everything I need in the way of medications and paperwork, and talks to me in plain English about what is going on with me. I highly recommend him!

Most of my life I had small seizures I didn't know was called petit mal seizures, they really affected me in high school but nobody knew what they were. In my late 30s I started having tonic colonic seizures and was treated like I was faking when I ended up at the hospital after collapsing on the street. My boyfriend and daughter started seeing them and I was tested and they couldn't find anything. Then I ended up in Vernal and the first seizure I had Dr Buchanan found what was causing them and got me on the right kind of medication. I haven't had one since I started seeing Dr Buchanan. He is always very caring and concerned at every appointment I have which is every 6 months. I am thankful for Dr Buchanan and I would refer anyone to see him. They won't regret it.

2 family members see Dr Buchanan, for different reasons. He and his staff are certain that all questions and/or concerns are addressed. He takes time needed to assure his patients feel confident in understanding all information received each visit. He cares. It shows. A hard thing to find with many other physician offices these days unfortunately. We highly recommended him.

Dr. Buchanan always listens to my questions. He will take the time to research out answers to any problem or concern that I have. His office staff are friendly and helpful.

He provided good care and understood the limitations my epilepsy imposed on my ability to function. I’m happy to rely on his services.

Dr Buchanan diagnosed my stroke when test’s didn’t indicate one. He was Professional & very caring. His actions showed his Professionalism. He promptly set everything in motion for me to go to the University Hospital. My follow up with him was just as good. He answered all my questions & helped me to understand what had happened. Dr. Buchanan is exceptional. He has such a knowledge of his area of expertise but yet he isn’t afraid to say I don’t know- let me check on that and get back to you. And he does! I am a COVID LongHauler patient and he has done so much to help me find ways to help me become functional again. He was the first doctor to really listen and try to relieve and improve my health issues.
