I had a complete right knee replacement approximately 10 years ago and I was absolutely pleased with the professionalism and care provided to me. Everything was explained completely and I had full confidence in the staff and doctor.

I had a frontal total hip replacement with Dr. Baier and his team. They were professional, very organized and everything went extremely well. If I had any questions or concerns (which I had many), they were answered quickly and put in a language I could understand. I would definitely recommend Dr. Baier and his team! They are wonderful!

Dr. Baier and his team are the best! He and his team are kind, caring and compassionate. I've had 2 surgeries in with Dr. Baier and in both instances, whether it was a surgical question or an insurance question, his team went above and beyond to make sure my questions were answered. I highly recommend Dr. Baier for any knee or hip issue you may have.

Went in after another dr misdiagnosed my pain - xrays showed I needed hip replacement. Dr Baier was straightforward about all possibilities with the surgery which I totally appreciate. The system they have set up to keep patients informed is great!! Any questions are answered by the end of the day. The surgery was a huge success and I was back to work and walking almost normally within 6 weeks!! Can’t say enough about Dr Baier and his staff!! Would highly recommend him to anyone needing joint replacement surgery!!!

Dr. Baier was very busy, and we had to wait a little bit. But he is worth waiting for - and he took all the time we needed and answered all our questions. He is a fine man and fine surgeon. And Selena is an excellent PA.

Dr. Baier was recommended to me by a friend. Dr. Baier replaced her hip as well. He was comforting and professional from the first meeting and I graduated to a cane in less than a week. I was walking around Chicago looking at Christmas lights after only 3 weeks. It was a great experience and I now wonder why I waited so long.

Dr. Baier and PA Selena Carpenter are wonderful! After more than 2 years of not being able to walk, stand or sleep without pain, I finally made an appointment. Rec'd quick response from the very beginning, from scheduling 1st appt to the post-op follow through. Explanation(s) of pre- and post-surgery were very thorough and put in layman's terms so I always felt I knew exactly what was going on. The pre-surgery class was good as it reiterates the dr. instructions and gave good suggestions to facilitate rapid recovery. Recovery has been amazingly quick; up & moving day of surgery and progressed rapidly from there. From the day of surgery, it's been miraculous to finally be able to move and sleep without pain! Now, even only 6 weeks after surgery, I feel it can only get better as I work to strengthen the legs. I'd recommend Dr. Baier and PA Salena Carpenter to anyone without a moment's hesitation. Thank you both for changing this 69-yr old's mobility so incredibly!

About Me

care philosophy

Dr. Baier is a very conservative surgeon. He treats patients as he would want to be treated. He does not recommend surgery unless all other non-surgical treats have been evaluated. When he does recommend surgery, he taylors the surgery to what is best for the patient so that they have the best opportunity for success.

Since 1985, Dr. Baier has been practicing Orthopedic Surgery in Lake County and was recently bestowed with "America's Best Physician" award by the National Consumer Advisory Board in early 2017 and again in 2020.
