Dr. Thinh Mai, MD

I waited 2-3 hours before he finally called me and when I said I had suicidal ideations he kind of just brushed it off and said "so you're still taking the medicine how you're supposed to?" after I answered that question he asked no follow up questions regarding what I was feeling and when I tried to talk about it he rushed to end the conversation. as someone who's struggling with MDD, anxiety, and bipolar disorder this crushed my trust in golden valley psychiatrists.

I saw Laura Slippy, a psychiatric nurse working under Dr Thinh, and requested my notes after my appt, she got what I said during my appt completely wrong, maybe it was miscommunication or her own internal biases, either way it's extremely unprofessional and dangerous esp working in the mental health field. I hope she works on her listening skills in the future and takes this seriously because its actually super harmful. I also told her I was nonbinary and she never used my correct pronouns once and even referred to me as "girl" multiple times in our visit and the notes she took for me. This does not feel like a LGBTQ+ friendly office. Overall, my experience with her was not pleasant, I got the impression that she is not interested in having an open mind to what her patients think and is only interested in fitting them inside a box. From our appointment I found she is a very black and white thinker and had no interest in hearing my actual concerns or reason for treatment.
