Dr. Thierry Hufnagel, MD

Dr Hufnagel performed cataract surgery on me Aug 2021. After the surgery I could not see from my right eye. He could not figure out what was wrong. They kept changing the lenses in my glasses. At one point he put his head on the desk and said he couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I eventually went to another practice where they diagnosed me with a “macular pucker” a disease of the retina. I am now under the care of a retinal specialist. You have Dr Hufnagel under retina specialist. I don’t think so!!! He couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t see!!

Don't read any review posted before January 2022. I've been a patient of Dr. Hufnagel for years and I've recommended him to friends, but now I'm done. He did my Lasik a long time ago (great experience), so I went back when I had cataracts last year. Patient care has suffered as they've grown, and the outpatient operating center was chaotic. Stahl was sold to new owners recently and patients seem to be an afterthought. I spent 1 month before my post-op followup trying to get someone to answer my voice mails and emails about my insurance coverage. The day before my appointment, I finally got someone on the phone who told me they were "on par" with my insurance, but when I showed up for my appointment, I was told they couldn't find my "payer" in the "system" and my option was to pay out of pocket. I walked. I'm sure the sale was very profitable and I wish them luck with their new owners. I'll be contacting them soon to forward my records to my new doctor.

My deepest gratitude to Dr. Werner and Dr. Hufnagel. In January I had laser vision correction and cataract removal in my right eye at Stahl. I see better than I have since kindergarten. This was a seamless experience from start to finish and I could not be happier with the results.

I have never seen better after the cateract surgery. My vision is clear, focused and with no side effects.

I had PRK surgery at Stahl last month, and Dr. Hufnagel was my surgeon. Before I decided to have the surgery at Stahl, I visited both Stahl and Weil Cornell Medical Center for free consultation. Though Weil Cornell Medical Center is of high prestige and very well-known, I selected Stahl for its atmosphere of professionalism, caring and warmth. I made the very right decision! Dr. Hufnagel is an excellent surgeon, and he did a superb job. I am very happy with my surgery!!!

I got my Lasik done in October 2000 and have had 20/20 vision in both eyes since (from 20/200 in each eye). I go back every year for a check-up, I've take my mom to see him for her cataracts and my now teen daughter is a patient as well (eyeglasses only, maybe soon contact lenses). Dr. Hufnagel is TOPS! I recommend Stahl Eye Center whenever I can. They have a very pleasant and professional office staff as well and helpful eyeglass staff.

Dr. Hufnagel and his staff are the consummate professionals and I am glad that I have entrusted my eye care to him. He is always thorough with the exam and taking care of my eyes!!

After several years and several different doctors, I finally found the doctor that was right for me. I was very nervous about lasik surgery since I had previously torn one of my retinas. Dr. Huffnagel was fantastic. Very soothing and patient and did a great job. I only wish I had found him sooner.

From the first time I saw Dr. Hufnagel, I knew I was speaking with an expert. I have an on going issue which is being treated. I have visited quite a few different docs, but he is my last. He's the best, and I owe him my vision.

I went for my first eye exam with Dr. Hufnagel and he never even introduced himself when he walked in the room. I started flinching while he was doing the exam so he got annoyed and rolled back in his chair, huffed/puffed and turned away until he tried again. I think if you are in a certain field, you should be understanding and patient. I went back for a follow-up and asked if I had what another Dr thought I had and he goes "well if you do, it's very minimal". I never went back after that.

I was getting massive migraines from wearing glasses & going slowly blind The va did not care. My insurance did not cover it I paid out of pocket It has been worth every single penny Dr Huffnagel was very understanding & his surgery has been outstanding

Dr. Hufnagel is an expert in his field. He has a unique way of making one feel well assured of receiving quality health care for the eye so. If some is wrong, strives and develop a plan of action to solve your problem. He is concerned about your total health as it relates to your eyes. He does not rush, but gives you a complete examination. His focus is to make a difference in your eyes. At one time My family relocated to Fl, but we came back to Ny for service. Now we are back in NY. See him.

I had PRK w/ Dr H 19 years ago. A real life changer and one of the best things I've ever done. I just went back for an exam and got the most thorough eye exam there is and I still have 20/20 vision! Amazing. He thought I might have dry eyes but tested and said no, really the only issue was that I was using the wrong strength readers. So impressed as usual. My husband just made an appt w/ him after years of going to a glasses type place. 5+ stars!

I highly recommend DR Hufnagel. I recently had PRK surgery with him. My contact lens prescription was -9 and -8.5. I now have 20/ 20 vision. Three days after your eyes will feel sandy, burning and extremely sensitive to light. The 4th day much better. I do not recommend going to work until the 4th day. You'll need to make the font on your phone and computer very large for 2 -3 weeks but you can definitely get around without glasses.

Five stars all around for Dr. Hufnagel. Had LASIK Nov 2015 and can't wait for my son to have the surgery hopefully in a few months.
