Excellent Physician and Surgeon
Dr. Franks has been my physician for at least five years if not longer. She is incredibly thorough, thoughtful in her approach to issues and an excellent surgeon. If you are a person who needs their doctor to coddle them, she may not be the perfect fit for you. She is kind, compassionate and very direct (I offer this only based on other reviews I read criticizing her). For me this is a perfect combination. I would recommend her highly and without hesitation.

excellent physician
I work in health care and have been seeing Dr Franks for many years. She has helped me navigate and work through many of my issues associated with menopause, listened to my concerns, and immediately addressed them with compassion and understanding. I trust her recommendations and expertise and would highly recommend her.

My turn
She does seem rather arrogant and dismissive. Many smart people feel that way with our dumb questions per say. She does need better bedside manners, can’t deny that. But she does take care of business. I got in to see her immediately and at the end of the visit made me feel good. I do trust her judgment. She did all the testing I needed. I’m good!

Grateful
I was referred to Dr. Franks earlier this year after severe abdominal pain sent me to the ER where it was discovered I had multiple ovarian cysts. I should note that my PCP ignored my complaints of painful periods and increasing pelvic pain for YEARS, and refused to refer me to a gynecologist until it became such an issue I had to go to the ER. I was extremely nervous to be referred to Dr. Franks given the reviews here, but it honestly has been the best thing to happen for my physical and mental well-being. She is very quiet and not particularly effusive, which I think to some people can come off as cold or mean-spirited, but that's simply the case. She has taken excellent care of me, and has made sure that I am getting the best treatment available, which has involved everything from performing surgery, to recommending me a new PCP, to fighting with my insurance company to cover expensive medications, and referring me to specialists promptly for the care I need.

Never in my life will I ever go or recommend anyone to dr. Frank's. Her bedside manners is extremely poor. She needs to improve in so many levels too many to mention. I don't trust her judgment at all. I had to find a different doctor. I am not happy going to her.

Unfortunately, my experience was not good. Dr. Franks seemed annoyed before she even came in. I was simply concerned about my recent weight gain due to post menopause. She told me I needed to exercise. When I told her that I already did 5 days a week, she responded, well then, you need to exercise 7 days then. I asked about my hormone levels because I was hoping to get some bloodwork done to see if their was any bioidentical hormones I could try, well, I never got to ask because she told me that I can't just give you a pill. I let her know that I wasn't looking for a pill. Dr. Franks then told me to go to an endocrinologist so they could check my thyroid. I let her know that I already see one. She told me to make an appointment then. It was as though I was a huge inconvenience to her. She was very dismissive. Huge mistake in seeing this doctor! It seem to be a reoccurring thing with the negative comments on here. Sad!

Horrible visit. I was referred to Franks, but canceled my follow up appointment. I would never willing see her agian. She was condescending and dismissive of my symptoms. I rescheduled with another Dr at a different office, which was night and day. He listened and was able to help me. What I found particularly odd about Franks was she sat typing facing the wall behind me, but made no eye contact. I kept turning to try an look at her as I spoke, but she never looked at me. Then I realized, why am I doing this, and just stared at the wall in front of me. So our conversation was conducted facing opposite directions; her staring at the back wall and me staring at the front wall. All other Dr's who take notes on their computers take breaks to make eye contact and actually listen. She has the worst bedside manner I've ever seen.

DO NOT TRUST THIS WOMAN. Dr Frank’s is exactly what is wrong with our American healthcare system. My last visit was nothing short of horrific.. I left in tears. She actually tried to bill me for something she NEVER helped me with. When I questioned her staff they brought her out and she played dumb. Please Save yourself a visit and find a doctor with an actual beating heart.

Why didn’t I read these reviews before going to her. They are spot on. She is rude, condescending and treats you like a number. I was having severe bleeding and experiencing blood clots the size of my fist. She ordered ultrasound and blood tests. On my follow up she couldn’t even bother to go over my results. When I was asking her questions, she had the audacity to say “sometimes we don’t have all the answers, that’s why we call it practicing medicine”. Wow! I was shocked. I left. I was supposed to give a urine sample and I realized she def does not have my best interest. You deserve to be treated like a person and with professionalism. She lacks everything a doctor should be.

Dr. Franks was my ob/gyn for a year or so, and I would not recommend her to anyone. Not only was she dismissive, she also was not knowledgeable in helping me decide which birth control was best for what I was experiencing. Overall, seemed like she didn’t care and was not helpful at all.

I love Dr. Franks! I have been seeing her for several years. I even got my sister to start going to the gynecologist because she likes Dr. Franks too. My sister used to go very sporadically, because she never found a dr. she liked. She diagnosed my endometriosis the first time I ever saw her. I was having TERRIBLE pain. Other doctors just continued to give me narcotic pain meds!!! She has performed a hysterectomy too. No complications with either procedure. She has a great bedside manner. She even has a good sense of humor. Maybe it’s the way you approach her that sets the negative situation.

She is not the most kind or caring Dr at all. You aree treated like a number and that's it. Just another appt to her. Her bedside matter is really bad, controlling questions and her answers are as she could careless while rowing her eyes at you. Very cold and rushes upi out the door. Very condensing . I would not recommend Dr Franks nor will I be going back to see her in the future.

If there was a way I would give this doctor no stars. In my opinion, this was quite possibly the worst ob/gyn I've ever seen in my entire life and this was just for an annual gynecological exam. She was condescending and rude, no bedside manner whatsoever. In no way was I comfortable while getting the exam. She was very stiff and treated me like a number rather than a patient.

Dr. Franks performed da Vinci robotic hysterectomy approximately 5 years ago. I was discharged from the hospital with a fever. Return to ER with 104 temp and 5 different strains of bacteria. I am now recovering from “post-surgical hernia repair” where a large tear was left open inside the umbilical site where surgery was performed. The scarring on my abdomen is unsightly. I deeply regret having the da Vinci method and Dr. Franks. I did not return for post op and cannot recommend -??

I have been married for a long, long time; taking care of my own birth control choices, etc with NO PROBLEMS. I was surprised with the inquisition regarding my birth control choices and asking how recently I've been tested for STD's. She said she was trying to be thorough, but didn't pertain to my situation. I also complained of a little pain in my side, and she smack-labeled me with Irritable Bowel without any testing, etc. Not cool and had negative consequences with obtaining new insurance.

Worst gyro experience I've ever had. Went there because of the good reviews on this website but in my experience she was condescending and disinterested in my concerns. She just sent me a bunch of medications without even explaining to me what they were of what they were for and when I went to pick them up they weren't even covered by insurance, they were very expensive, and top it all they were the same medicine my other doctors had already sent (which she had complained about). Not going back.

Just leaving Dr. Frank's office now and she provided excellent service and had great bedside manner. I went off her healthgrades review with establishing a new women's healthcare provider and the reviews are correct. Having worked in the medical field for the last 6yrs along side physicians, I know what to expect. Dr. Franks and her staff were professional, patient and thorough. I am new to California and pleased with my choice of physician. I would recommend Dr. Frank's to others.
