Knowledgeable and compassionate
Dr. Shekhel listens and explains things well. She's thorough and knowledgeable as well as compassionate and understanding. She has helped me tremendously with a stressful illness. I've had some issues using the portal for messaging, but that seems resolved now that they've added more staff.

Find another infectious disease doctor. Dr. Shekhel and the office at St. Joseph's hospital is the most poorly run office I have ever seen. I have to initiate all communication with any of them. The situation got so bad I actually had to communicate multiple times with the woman who oversees the entire clinic. I have her cell phone number. Dr. Shekhel missed three telehealth appointments, she takes forever to get back with the manager of the clinic and getting lab results is like pulling teeth. You have to call and call and call.

I was visiting Dr. Shekhel to discuss a recent Valley Fever diagnosis. She acted like she had all the time in the world to meet with me. She took the time to go through my hospital records and explain key portions to me, explained various lab results, and answered all my questions very thoroughly and patiently. I met with her for a good 45 minutes and never felt the least bit rushed. She seems very knowledgeable and works together to create treatment plan. I would highly recommend her!
