Dr. Flanzman
Dr. Flanzman is extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and easy to talk to regarding my healthcare. I never feel rushed as she listens to any and all issues I may be having. She is very up to date on the most current diagnostics as well as a more holistic approach to treatments for common health concerns. I have been her patient for more than 10 years and am grateful to have her as my primary physician.

After 2 years, still dealing with billing.
I made an appointment for a yearly physical with blood work two years ago. I got there 30 minutes early since it was my first visit. I was not seen for another 50 minutes. We spoke for 5 minutes then I waited for another 40 minutes to get my blood drawn by her staff. The staff forgot about me. We had a scheduled video conference a week later to tell me the my blood work is fine. Fast forward two years later. I’ve been getting bills for services they have not submitted to my insurance. I payed the blood work since that one was the only one properly claimed. Today I get a call from collect… I contacted my insurance and they confirmed they have lab work from the day in question but nothing else claimed. We tried calling billing but was on hold for an hour before we gave up. My insurance kindly contacted collect to let them know they will cover my yearly physical fully once the claim is submitted. Rinse and repeat. I have lost count how many times I’ve done this all over again.

Dr Flanzman, I am a fan!
I recently relocated back to Bergen County and a friend recommended Dr Flanzman. I was very, very happy with my first visit. Dr Flanzman is very thorough and she really listens to your issues and concerns. She is also very positive, which is so refreshing! I am so happy to have found Dr Flanzman and am already recommending her to family and friends!

Not a great experience to start
Telehealth
Doctor had no availability to see a new patient in person so we agreed to virtual care for our first appt. When it came time for my appt, I waited for 25 mins. I called the office to check on when she would be available and was given specific instruction to wait for a text message to log in when doctor was ready. I never received a text message and went to use the restroom. Came back to a call from the doctor stating she was waiting for me. I called office back within 3 minutes and was told that now she has to see another patient and will only be able to see me briefly. This was frustrating as I waited 25 mins for her, taking off work, and never received the text message I was told to wait for. Now she couldn't give me ample time for my visit because she had another patient. Had she seen me at the agreed upon time and the instructions given to me were correct this would not be the case and therefore now I lost out on my visit. This treatment of a patient as unimportant is unfortunate.

Very grateful that Dr. Flanzman is my primary care
I feel very lucky that 20 or years ago Dr. Flanzman became my primary care physician. She is a very knowledgeable and caring doctor. She listens patiently and attentively and I never feel rushed. I feel taken care of by someone who cares. And by someone who also has valuable knowledge and experience.

Great Primary Physician!
Dr. Flanzman has been my primary physician for over 10 years and I consider myself fortunate to have her as my doctor. She is always professional yet personable and friendly and shows concern for any problems I may have. She listens to me, asks questions and offers good advice and suggestions when necessary. I feel as if I can talk to her about my health concerns without feeling embarrassed or worried that anything I say will be taken lightly. I feel comfortable and relaxed during my visits. Unlike some other doctors I have seen, she doesn't make me nervous and always answers any questions I may have. I highly recommend Dr. Flanzman and am glad to have such a wonderful doctor.

Caring and attentive professional
I have been a patient of Dr. Flanzman for about 7 years. I wish I had found her sooner. She is knowledgable and attentive during each patient encounter I have had with her. The practice, as a whole, is run IMO very efficiently. Registration, vitals and then called back personally by the doctor to her private office where she thoroughly reviews your history since the last visit. Then a few steps into her exam room - then back to discuss concerns, options and her professional assessment & suggestions. She is more holistic in her approach and is certainly not a physician who goes to the prescription pad immediately. I have confidence in as well as respect for her experience, knowledge and professional opinions.

Integrative medicine???
I was hoping for more from a doctor who I thought would have a healthy approach to the body rather than drugs. I waited for months to see her. First she asked if I got the Covid vaccine. When I said, no I had Covid, went through it fine and have antibodies, she railed on me and gave “facts” that were already proven to be wrong, including the fact that it doesn’t prevent Covid. Follow up to go over my blood test result she mentioned my Hashimoto’s disease. I said, what, I was never told. She said, you were diagnosed in 2017 and then seemed to get flustered. With horror I realized it was the same Dr I was disillusioned with 5 years prior when her solution for weight loss was prescription drugs. I realized I mistakenly booked her again but thought ok, maybe now she will give me some answers. I eat very healthy, hence my blood work was good, no inflammation. Her advise, “maybe you should try a Paleo diet.” That’s it! Sorry, this is not a doctor who practices true integrative medicine.

Fabulous primary care physician!
Dr. Flanzman has been my Primary Care doctor for years, and each time I see her, she gives me 150% of her time and attention. She is knowledgeable, personable and caring, and she responds to questions concerning my individual needs. She is also quick to respond to my internal messages through the patient portal. I highly recommend her.

Uncaring Doctor
Dr. Flanzman does a very superficial exam. I've never met a doctor that did so little in a physical. She also missed an important telehealth appt. to review test results and did not reschedule. Her office is impossible to reach by phone or its portal. I would advise anyone to stay away from the doctor. She is uncaring and not conscientious.

Poor Patient Care
I called to speak with Dr. Flanzman on 11/14, and received the call center after being on hold for 20 minutes. I asked that she call me back today, as I am having a medical issue. No call back. I called again yesterday and asked that Dr. Flanzman call me as I haven't heard from her. A man called me and asked what I wanted to speak with Dr. Flanzman about. I said I was having severe pain from my lower back down to my calf, and I need to speak with her today. I wanted to ask her if I should see her, or an orthopedic surgeon. No return call from Dr. Flanzman as of 11/17. This is unacceptable patient care, and I have been a patient of Dr. Flanzman's for over 30 years. I will not be seeing Dr. Flanzman again. Bergen Medical Associates is being run as a business, instead of focusing on patient care. A Rheumatologist at BMA missed my cancer diagnosis this year from my blood test results. I googled the tests that were not normal, and it indicated a possible blood cancer.

Worst experience EVER
Dismissive, misdiagnosed my condition, could never be reached even in the 24 hours promised, made prescribing errors, no attention to detail, rushed at every appointment & completely incompetent. All of this after 7+ years of being a patient who only ever needed well visits- first time I needed actual care it was all a total fail!

Initial Consult
It’s too early to tell. The consultation with Dr. Flanagan went well. She was patient and listened to my concerns. I didn’t feel rushed. However, during the intake with the support staff, I’m not sure if she was a medical assistant, LPN or RN, but her intake skills were horrible. She would ask me a question and answer it for me at the same time. At one point, I said to her “so, you’re going to ask me the question and answer it for me too”, and then she slowed herself down to complete a real intake. There was no reason for her to rush because the lobby was empty. The people at the front desk has no personality and were too busy talking about an upcoming event before helping me to check in; after, I was asked yo arrive 15 minutes early to complete the intake process.

Beyond awful
Just another cog in the machine. But she bills herself as functional. She literally said well we only have 15 minutes while I started telling her my history. And then she said I’m only functional for people who pay and don’t use insurance. She doesn’t even follow through with tests and refuses me a prescription for a VITAMIN! She is impossible to communicate with. (The people at her office are very nice.)
