Dr. Susan Chu, MD

Technically this doctor is very good and does a great job. She is very skilled at what she does, and for that, I’m grateful. However, bedside manner is lacking. I’ve had diverticulosis for over a decade and am very familiar with the pain of diverticulitis and with the treatments I’ve received. She apparently didn’t see those records and told me I must be mistaken. This doctor didn’t want to listen to anything I had to say. She rushed out telling me she had other patients to see. She also assumed that I was dumb enough to believe that because a product is labeled “healthy” that it would be good for me. She doesn’t know me.

Always told me to just “get therapy” to manage stress. I was anemic and on iron for over a year. I was begging to be seen - her patient since 2011 when I first had diverticulitis Dr Chu Refused to see me 4/2023 Offered phone appointment w nurse practitioner instead - even as I begged knowing something was wrong. I ended up in hospital with complicated diverticulitis- abscess that perforated my intestines. Peritonitis. Almost didn’t make it. Week hospitalized in April (too inflamed to put drain in) heavy antibiotics for months then hospitalized another week in June. Had sigmoid colon removed. Over $14,000 in copays and coinsurance. Could have been completely preventable. Glad I was told by hospitalists to never return to her care. Glad other doctors saved my life

She is super energetic and kind.

Been seeing hear every year for the past 8 years. Always energetic and kind.

Dr. Chu is responsive and attentive. She performed my colonoscopy and provided follow up phone calls. I think she is great.

Dr. Chu has treated me over the last 12+ years. She has been extremely helpful in getting me to function at my best. She has great bedside manner, explains everything and has an enthusiasm for her job I have not seen in a very long time with other doctors. I would not go to anyone else.
