Dr. Suresha Perera-Abeysekera, MD

I'm a senior, still active and all cylinders are firing. Doc walks into the room, sees my gray hair, and starts shouting her greeting. I have no hearing loss. Appointment went downhill from there. She 'listens' to your concerns but doesn't actually hear what you are saying. She doesn't quite roll her eyes but her expression shows indifference. I think she is fairly knowledgeable but her condescending attitude needs work. She tells me things several times, as if I'm too dense to understand on the first attempt. I left feeling unheard and disrespected.

She hasn't been available for an appointment for quite some time and seems to be very overscheduled. Doesn't provide thorough treatment for the patient. I would recommend looking into a different general practitioner.

I do not recommend Dr. Perera. I saw her several times at PPG. One time I had a skin infection and she was visibly disgusted in her facial expressions. One time I went in and I had several things to ask her about. She told me that I had only scheduled a 15 minute appointment and I needed to choose the 2 most important questions I had and to schedule another appointment for anything we didn't get to in our 15 minutes. If the office had given me the option for a longer appointment I would have taken it. I didn't choose a 15 minute appt. Once I explained a problem I was having with getting leg cramps frequently and tried to talk to her about why it could be happening and she looked at me like I was crazy while I was trying to get her to troubleshoot and she told me to drink Gatorade. This was after I had gone to the ER for getting cramps in both legs at the same time that lasted for 4 hours. She's not professional and doesn't take your concerns seriously. I'll never go back.

She is the best, listens offers advice, supports if i want to try a different route for a remedy, not every situation is a new pill.

Recently this doctor treated me In an urgiclinic. She diagnosed my current condition however she said I delayed treatment because of my sensitivity to medications. This is not true. I do no have insurance. She never actually asked me if I was allergic to any medication and I let her know I could not take a type of medication and i asked her to make sure the prescription she was ordering did not contain the medicine I'm allergic to. She was more interested in making me a patient of hers and getting paid by medicare than acknowledging that I was allergic to a medication.

That 2nd thumbs down was a mistake..I give her 5 stars and an extra 1 on Sundays

I love Dr Perera. She listens to you. She stays in the room with you until you have finished telling her everything that is wrong. She has a very pleasant attitude. she has been right on the money with everything I come to her with. I would definitely recommend her.
