One of the meanest doctors I have ever come across. I saw him a couple years ago and the way he spoke to me and the things he said were terribly hurtful and I know I am supposed to forgive him, but it is hard. I see only 9 reviews and they are good. For 27 years of experience, that is not a great track record. I came in for a torn meniscus and he decided to insult me and degrade me for my weight, apparently forgetting that I had just survived stage 3 cancer and then torn the knee up on top of it. I was struggling with a little, a LITTLE, extra weight, but was ALIVE. I hope he retires soon. Who knows how many other people he has hurt with his words.

Dr Suraj Achar has been my Family Medicine and Sports Medicine physician for more than 10 years...and has helped, cured and advised me more than I could ever expect. He has been named "Physician of the Year" on numerous occasions...and for good reason. He is an invaluable asset to UCSD, his patients, his peers, the medical community and future physicians learning from him. Dr Achar is "As good as it gets!" And Thank you, Dr Achar!

I retired & relocated from Maryland, where I had the same knee issues many years ago. I've never had a doctor spend so much time with me or be so thorough as Dr. Achar. Not only did he look at X-rays, do a history, do a physical exam of knee, but also did an ultrasound. Finally, he discussed conventional treatments that insurance would cover, unconventional, physical therapy, diet, and exercise, informing me of latest data.
