Great care
I have been a patient of Dr.Stuart Helms for over 10 years, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care I’ve received. Dr.Helms is incredibly thorough and detail-oriented, always taking the time to understand my concerns and provide thoughtful, personalized care. His patience is truly remarkable, and he is always careful when prescribing medications. While there can be long wait times during appointments, I believe it’s a small price to pay, but it can be improved. I always leave my appointments feeling confident that I’m in good hands.

Lazy, dismissive, would not recommend
Dr. Helms does not listen but instead seems to dismiss everything and I believe document why he did nothing to cover himself in case his laziness creates serious consequences. If you are dealing with a potentially serious condition, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I have been a patient with Dr Helms for over 10 years. I have always been happy with the care. Recently, however, I have been very unhappy. I made an appointment to have blood drawn there at the office, for an appointment that I have with Dr Helms next week. I waited about 15 minutes and the front desk informed me that they were too busy to do a blood draw. Mind you, I did have an appointment which the office had called to confirm with me. So then, I had to wait another 5-7 minutes for the front desk to print out a lab order for me to go downstairs to have blood drawn (where I did not have an appointment). There were 8 people in front of me and I was told it would be at least an hour. I had made arrangements to be late to work, but not that late! I did not have the blood draw and went on to work. My time is very valuable...I work full time and I am the sole caregiver to my husband, a stroke patient, stage 4 diabetic who is an amputee. I make appointments to schedule my time

Dr. Helms refused to see me when I was very sick because I had recently switched my PCP to a different practice. It was ok’d with my insurance and I had had a physical at his office within the past 6 months but he still refused to see me. I was very sick and got myself and my Child out of the house to go to the appointment and he turned me away. I believe he was angry because I had switched my PCP to a doctor who used to work for the same office. Obviously he had no sympathy for how sick I was and made a decision based off of something that makes no difference at all whatsoever. Horrible bedside manner.

Dr. Helms is a great doctor. When I started seeing him over 13 years ago, he was instrumental in switching me off of medication that was harming my liver (presccribed by another physician). He tells you like it is and is practical and realistic!

I DO NOT like Doctors in General! BUT, Doctor Helms is the Exception. My Husband and I have been seeing Dr.Helms for Approximately 17 years. I have taken my Sons' to see him. Dr. Helms is a Passionate Doctor, when it comes to his Patients. He tells you straight what is going on. He listens to what you ask and/or say. And then answers you in Plain English.Explains what the Big Med. Words mean, as well as the Medication, if you have to be on any.Ask, He will answer you Straight understanding Words

Dr. Helms is a nice man, but he misdiagnosed a cyst on my wife's neck and told her it was nothing. By the time we got a second (correct) opinion, it turned out to be stage three lymphoma.

I am an RN myself so, of course, I shopped around over 18 years ago when looking for a primary. I am still here as I've been very impressed & well cared for. Dr. Helms is thorough, extremely capable & the follow up from him & his staff is unsurpassed. Communication outside office visits are also commendable. I have recommended him to others and will continue to do so.
