He's a funny guy - but not on top of his game
Good luck - ever getting an appointment with him for anything other than a physical, if you can get that scheduled in a timely manner. YOU will need to be heavily involved in reminding him what tests to run and about any medication. My visit included him telling me the healthcare system was a dumpster fire. And, that if I started having memory issues, his half of a brain and my half, would make a full brain. Also no telehealth appointments. Barely any communication. And several times, he replied to me on my chart by the name of another patient?

Excellent care for over two decades
When i moved to Chicago, I asked my cousin, who was a surgeon on staff at Advocate Masonic to pick a doctor for me from those in my plan. He recommended Dr. Fox. My experience with Dr. Fox has been outstanding. Working in the medical education field, I think I am qualified to offer informed opinions here. Dr. Fox listens, takes his time, and does not over prescribe. His patient communication skills are a fine example of what I teach. When he moved from Masonic to Northwestern Medicine in Evanston, there was no doubt that I would follow him there. Same for my friends who are his patients.

Nan
Ignored signs of asthma and suggested pseudoephedrine. When informed my cardiologist told me it to take it, he countered would be okay for a few days.

He's a Mensch
My husband and I have known Dr. Fox for many years and I find him consistently compassionate, caring and willing to go the extra mile for his patients. We were just delighted when he moved to Northwestern's Evanston office because this office is far more accessible than his former practice at Advocate in the city, He s a doctor other doctors seek out and heartily recommend!

His reinforcement of a mental health stigma that it's not okay to not be okay is very problematic. I was feeling a bit down on the day I went to his office and he made me feel ashamed for acting this way. When comparing me to a famous person's interview he had recently watched, Dr. Fox said "he's quite affable, unlike you". This has stuck with me. One- I'm in a doctor's office; individuals may act differently when they know millions of people will be watching them. Two, you're really going to judge my character in this way based on a 5 minute talk we have once every year? Shaming me in my most vulnerable state is shameful in its own right. I concur with previous posts referencing his use of problematic language and insensitivity. Shame on you Dr. Fox.

I had a terrible appointment with Dr. Fox. I am overweight and he essentially body shamed me and was very unsupportive and used problematic language. Because of this I am hesitant to recommend him to anyone.

I had questions that I wanted ask about the doctor. The staff is VERY rushed. I asked to speak with someone else and they refused. A doctor is only as good as their support staff. If the leadership is advising front line workers do not transfer up- then how do you trust this doctor this staff to aid your wellbeing? ITS A STRONG NO FOR ME.

If you seek a physician who listens, takes his time, incorporates your thinking into his decisions, and does not overprescribe, then Dr. Fox is your ideal primary care physician. He has been my PCP for twenty years. When he moved to another health system, there was no question that I - and others of my acquaintance - would move with him.

I find Dr. Fox very intelligent and a very good listener. I beleive I am a very educated pateint and I like the fact I have no doubts Dr. Fox knows his stuff. I was instantly impressed with the fact he took notes many years ago in a note pad. This was 20 years ago before iphones etc..
