Invasive Kidney Surgery
I'm confused about some reviews I've read. I chose Dr Savage to perform my surgery based on the reviews pertaining to my needs . I personally went to Dr Savage for his surgical skills and he did not disappoint. I couldn't have asked for nor received better results . This is where my focus was best served . I am in need of the same surgery in a couple months and I am very pleased to have Dr Savage again . I highly recommend him and his team . . I had my surgery Friday February 7th 2025 , wrote my review Sunday February 9th and Posting February 10th 2025 .

Learned of my husband's cancer through MyChart
My husband went to Dr. Savage for a biopsy and the next day Dr. Savage wrote a note on MyChart telling my husband to set up an appointment to discuss his cancer diagnosis. This was how he informed him of having prostate cancer. I'm ok with not so great bedside manner but this one there is no excuse for. In addition, when I asked what information we should request when we have seek a second opinion, he seemed irritated and surprised that we would even get a second opinion.

I was sent to Dr. Savage by the VA for a lithotripsy to break up a kidney stone. After waiting 3 months to have what i was told would be the lithotripsy i was finally seen Dec 4th, waited 1.5 hours just to see him and be informed that this was only a consult. I Questioned him why i wasnt informed and why i couldn't have made a later appt. He then responded incredibly rudely and stormed out of the exam room like a child. Wishing me "good luck with that". He was Incredibly unprofessional and rude.

I drove 6 hrs rnd trip for my 9am appt w/ Dr Savage. I have seen him 3 times over 5 yrs. Visits consist of ultrasound to measure size of cyst on my kidney checking for any abnormal growth or shape, urine specimen and physical inspect. I explained I had quite a bit more pain in the last 6 mo. Today, nothing occurred, literal waste of a day of my life! Was told i could schedule an ultrasound at a later time/date. Another trip? No tx. Left feeling trivial & insignificant, a bother to Dr Savage! TX!

I saw Dr. Savage two years ago for a urinary tract infection and what I consider to be minor problems. Every test he did was designed to fail. If he had suggested a simple cystoscopy to investigate further I would have been all onboard. Instead he wanted to do an $80,000 TERP procedure that may have had very serious life changing consequences. I had some bleeding two weeks ago and needed to see him. Hours later an arrogant nurse called and said he wouldn't see me because I didn't let him ....

The worst bedside manor of any doctor I have ever encountered. I am a bedside nurse and I attended this appointment as a Nurse Advocate for a patient. Dr. Savage was rude, uninterested in listening to the patient, and very unclear with his advice. He offered little to no explanation of the patients condition or treatment plan.
